Somebody help me understand women. I'm 44 and thought

I knew and understood people pretty well. We met at work several years ago. I listened to her tell her friends how lazy her first husband was and he wouldn't mow grass. I love to stay busy and enjoy the outdoors. But everytime I want to mow grass she fusses and says I just mowed it. I told her yesterday I was no longer going to mow grass and she could pay some $60 to mow it.

Get over it! You are a man . You are always wrong. Especially if you place your manly job of grass cutting above the Honey do's. Remember timing is crucial. There are appx 30 days in a month. Take notes.

You asked if she knew where the key is, she said you just mowed the grass and you've decided that your reaction may put your marriage and future of your child on the line?
Are we being too sensitive here?

I'm trying to find her good qualities in the info you've mentioned and the only thing I noticed was "young", so I'm guessing since you're in your 40's she's prolly 30-ish and nice looking.
I'm in my 40's and all 3 of my kids are teenagers. I could not do the diapers, cleaning, toting, not sleeping, screaming, etc. that goes along with babies and toddlers at this stage of my life. That is part of what is making things hard in your marriage (unless you are just bent to enjoy that stuff).....small children are hard on a marriage.
Good luck to you - it usually gets better.

"every time I want to mow grass she fusses and says I just mowed it." So you don't consistently mow the grass. Otherwise, she would not say I just mowed it. Sounds like she thinks you only want to mow the grass when she finally gets tired of waiting for you to mow it and does it herself. Could it be that you offer to mow the grass when she wants you to do something else?

Well, that's what I've heard. It seems to me that no matter what proportion of effort and attitude are involved you are still in control.
You really want to know the secret to controlling a woman? Love em like Chirst loved the church. No matter how bad you think a wife might be she'll never come close to doing to you what we've done, and do, to The Son of God.
You can't just love a woman when you want. You can't just love a woman during the good times. You can't just love em when they treat you right and do and act like you think they should. The real measure of loving a woman is when you've got every inclination to hate her.
When she piles all the clothes in the washer and your whites turn pink because of a red blouse, when the one time she cooks a meal it's clear from the taste she didn't really want to cook, when it seems that when you are exhausted it's always your turn to change the baby, that's when you find out if you're man enought to really love a woman.

Don't get yourself distracted by reading a woman's instruction to be submissive. That really is none of our business. It's God's place to handle that part of a woman's heart. I can't address how this works for a woman. God has not made us privy to that working for we have not the facility to understand. The Boss says do your job.
You really ought to read this prayerfully for it's the secret to a happy marriage.
Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Ephesians 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Ephesians 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Ephesians 5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Ephesians 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Ephesians 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
This exercise, should you choose to undertake it, is like anything else. Your gauge should be whether or not you are loving her like Christ loved the church and not how she is responding. Focus on yourself so you won't get distracted.
When you fail go to God and He'll give you the strength to go at it better next time. It's a tough thing to do when a man puts a woman's and child's best interest at the center of his heart but that's our obligation to God. You can't love God without putting your family first.
She doesn't really want to go to all those favorite places, she really doesn't want to control your every action. What she really wants is a man who's able to put her best interest and the best interest of her child as his top priority. The problem here is she doesn't know what's best for her and she's making your life miserable because you don't either.
What's best for her is you to love her like Christ loved the church.
Your obligation just increased exponentially along with everyone else who reads this. My guild of having a 30 year marriage fail is overwhelming me now so I'll bow out of this thread.

Ok here ya go! I am 41 never married dated too many. Lol. Men will never understand women and viva-versa. So I'd you can deal with her bad and her your bad you will be fine... lol lil story . I helped my ex get her house ready to sell fixing walls and the barn where her horse tore the side of the barn off. Which I am remodeling my house also.. so once I got her house ready she didn't want me to finish work I have started on mine. So as pappy always said" women can't help it they are born with it!"

Usually when women do this it is because they are doing something that they don't want you to find out about. They will try to divert your attention to anything but what they are doing. Hope I am wrong, but have several friends who complained to me about what you are saying. Also it wasn't just about grass it could be anything stupid.

Let's look at this from the female point of view...

First, your wife sounds like a control freak. No matter what the situation is, she wants the control as to when and where. Turn the table on her and she will not even know you are doing it.
First, a day or two before you are going to do your manly chores, tell her that WE need to get some things done on, say Saturday. Make a list like mow the lawn, vacum the house, clean the bathrooms. Ask her which one she wants to do (she will think she is controlling the situation) If she says she does not have time to do these things, just reply that I really thought you cared enough about me to help out. Tell her if she will help you (again she thinks it will be her decision) that it will be done and then we can go out and have a nice dinner. This way it helps you out, too. You don't have to cook and she loves to go out to dinner.
If she does not agree, just mow the dang lawn and take the kid out to McDonalds for some daddy/son time.
Stop giving in to her every demand. Stop going out to dinner. If you have to do all the cooking, just fix P&B samwiches.
Bottom line, find a way to make her think whatever you do was her choice and she will be just fine. Doing that will not give her the option to raise hell about what you do. You can always tell her "this is what YOU wanted me to do."
And please.....raise your son as a Tiger and not a chicken. Make him a real man.

calls me a control freak and I told her I had to get selfish for me to be happy with her and to enjoy the things I like. I know she is going to betch so I do it anyway. She is 33 and her 2nd marriage is failing for the same reasons her 1st failed. My friends say that she is jealous that our son seems to want to be with me more than her. I'm trying to make a man out of him.

Don't let ##### get your paycheck.
My first thought was, 'why didn't I know that 45 years ago?'

Solution #1:

|
Chase her around the house naked, tickling her, while speaking fake Chinese.
That should fix your problem.

Your wife is unhappy...and it has nothing to do with you.

If she was unhappy with the "lazy" husband and unhappy with a "industrious" husband, maybe the problem isn't you. Good luck telling her she needs to go to counseling, and that's what she needs.
Either way, don't kill yourself trying to fix her or be everything to her. Love her, care for her, and let her own her crap.
