National Championship Scenario

Nov 8, 2013, 8:39 AM

Are there scenarios where Clemson could play in the National Championship Game and would there be a scenario where the Tigers could go up against FSU in that game? What dominos would have to fall?

Not really. Because Bama would remain in front of us`

w/ 1 loss. And if it came to Auburn, Auburn would also probably jump us. Plus there would still be 4 other teams after Bama that we would have to pass (I think oregon stays ahead of us at #6). So Oregon, Stanford, Baylor, OSU have to lose. And BAMA has to lose twice (which is impossible, because if they lose to auburn, they dont have the chance to lose in SECCG because they wont be there)

UGA beats Auburn and Auburn beats Bama. That means Bama still plays in the SEC championship. If they lost to UGA we would jump them. Our best bet is to pull for UGA from here on out.

There are scenarios:

But either Alabama or FSU would have to lose twice, and then Ohio State and Baylor would have to lose their first game, and then Missouri, Auburn, Stanford, and Oregon would all have to lose again as well.

I know it is crazy but usually so is the BCS.

Bama drops games to Auburn and UGA.

OSU gets beat by Michigan St.

Baylor gets beat by Texas Tech.

Missouri gets beat by Ole Miss and A&M.

Auburn gets beat by UGA.

Stanford drops a game @USC.

Oregon drops its game @Arizona or in the championship game.

Ohio St. might still be in play, or even MSU, in that scenario.

I've never really done this kind of thing, have you?

I agree it seems impossible but if the "stars were to align" it would probably have to go something like this.

First and most obvious, we have to win out.

Obviously Stanford, Baylor and Ohio State would have to drop a game each. Oregon would probably need to loose another as well.

That's the easy part.

The SEC deal is the next complicated and "stars align part".

Alabama would certainly have to loose two(Maybe LSU and Auburn). That would require Auburn to loose one too so that they don't jump us(for good measure it would be great if that were Georgia). On that note it would help if UGA hangs on and wins the SEC East(not sure what the tie breaker policy is for the SEC if UGA, SC, and Mizzu all end up 2 losses) and the SECCG for good measure. Side note in this scenario SC wins as many as they can while allowing UGA to win the SEC East.

Oregon
Utah
At Arizona
Oregon State
PAC12 CG (possible)

Stanford
@ usc
Cal
ND
PAC12 CG

Ohio State
@ ILL
Ind
@ Mich
Big 10 CG (MSU)

Alabama
LSU
@ MSU
Chatt
@ Auburn

Baylor
TT
@ Ok State
@ tcu
Texas

We need these things to happen

1. LSU over Bama
2. Ok State over Baylor or Texas over Baylor
3. Oregon to lose before Champ Game or in Champ Game
4. Stanford to lose before Champ Game or in Champ game
5. Mich to Beat Ohio State or MSU beat Ohio State
6. Mizzou to lose once (Ole Miss or TAM)
7. Auburn to lose to UGA but beat Bama a home

No big deal. Most unlikely scenerios to me seem to be Stanford or Oregon losing again, but nobody thought WV would lose to Pitt years ago.

Should be fun four to five weeks
