He is being paid for past performance. But his program has not changed with the times. Recruiting has not kept pace with competition. Portal use is nil! Not a good outlook when our rival just beat Tamu and almost Alabama. They recruit and use portal?

We better change the narrative and quick. Shelves are getting bare and we won’t be able to use our winning tradition/culture to try and offset some of the money disparity if Clemson is seen as a team that is circling the drain and plummeting towards obscurity.
I get we don’t have a bottomless chest of cash like some teams, but don’t think we need one to be a top 15 team. Just use it to patch areas of weakness.
It seems like if they went to arena football rules and allowed a receiver to be in motion towards the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped, we’d see teams beat us over the head with it and we’d sit just take the beatings and say, “Nah, we’re not going to start doing that. That’s not how we do things around here.”

Absolutely. However, he needs to fire all nepotism position coaches and hire a legit defensive coordinator like Jim Knowles or Mucachump (Georgia). He got rid of Thomas Austin for Luke who is doing a great job. Grisham, Conn, Stoudt, Goodwin, and a host of others need to go. Hire the best money can buy. Not hire buddies/family/former players with zero experience in the role hired for. Wes Goodwin’s resume highlight was he worked for Bruce Arians for a year. The defense numbers prove it. 2 in 21 (BV final season), 22 in 22, 32 in 23, and 68 today. BV left a top 3 defense behind and Goodwin backed into 22. SMH.

Yes but the past three years? Post covid have been much different. Look at Mack brown now versus early unc and Texas. Not the same level of results.

100% depends on the market. And not just salary/buyout cost, but who is available in the market that would be a more attractive alternative when considering both talent and cost for that individual.

To be one of the top paid coaches in the country…and THIS? Come on now…I appreciate what he has done for Clemson. But he has proven to anyone with an open mind that he’s not getting the job done anymore.
