The case for liking a Browns pick for DW4

Apr 18, 2017, 9:11 AM

ESPN posted the story below picking the best spots for this year's QB draft class to land, and they are sending Deshaun to Cleveland. I've actually been warming up to this idea for a couple reasons:
1. If the Browns use their MANY MANY upcoming draft spots moderately well, they are set to massively improve. And if they pick DW4 they could build the team around him.
2. The Browns already have a very good O-line, which is huge.
3. We know that Deshaun loves a challenge and loves to be doubted and plays well under a spotlight...Cleveland will have those things in spades.
4. As the article mentions, I think Hue Jackson is a great fit for both a rebuilding Cleveland and for Deshaun.
All I know is, if I were a Cleveland Browns fan (and we all might be very soon), there are now some reasons to be optimistic for the first time in a long time...

Not me

I do like Jackson but Cleveland is a cursed destination which has consistently blown its own toes off since returning to the NFL. Even when they stumble on some talent like a Josh Gordon, the guy can't shake a drug problem and stay eligible to play. Browns and Jets rank 1 and 2 for places I DON'T want to see Watson land.

There is no curse, just people who make bad decisions

The Browns have actually begun to make good decisions as the OP notes. They now have a solid OL with depth. A good HC in Jackson. They are all pulling in the same direction, have a good culture in place, and an actual vision of what they want to be. That division is in flux especially when Roethlisberger retires. The Browns have a real opportunity in front of them right now. There are worse destinations for Deshaun.

the orange ensemble on Sundays. I would actually go to a game for the first time since I moved here (5 years).

However, I know a guy, who knows a guy, etc... and the Browns front office talk hasn't been very favorable for Deshaun.

Just saying, word on the street is that Cleveland will pass on Deshaun when it's their pick, regardless of the round.

They do seem to be very high on Trubisky...lots of rumors that they may take him 1st overall
