I'm happy someone in the Tiger family with clout spoke up about this. I could care less what whoopie has to say about anything. And I have an answer for Mrs. Haley. Every time we got out to a reasonable lead, DJ and company would perform just well enough to keep it close. Had he kept the peddle down, we would have had enough breathing room to let Cade get some quality time with the first string. Perhaps this was the plan all along. Heck, why would you want to give your backup the chance to win the starting job?

Dabo has demonstrated he will not hesitate to replace the QB if the guy behind him gives us a better chance. With that said, Cade may be counted on Saturday. Maybe he's progressed? We'll see....

He got a few plays here and there. Go back and see how Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence were treated. They played a lot in the first half with the starters as freshman. Cade got in here and there sometimes being thrown to the wolves and the play calling when he was in was atrocious. It looked like they were setting him up to fail. If you think he was given a fair chance to succeed, you are clueless. Dabo did not want him to succeed, and make sure he did not.

Dabo started Stoudt over Watson for the first 3 games which included losses to UGA and an OT loss to FSU which cost Clemson the Atlantic. DW4 looked like a future NFLer in limited action from game-1. But Stoudt started and DW4 sat on the bench until the 4th series at FSU, when suddenly Watson became the better QB.
It took 4 games before Trevor Lawrence was named the starter over a clearly inferior Kelly Bryant.

She should have kept her opinions to herself, the last thing that Dabo or our FB program needs right now is for a public figure to be commenting to anyone in the media, or in any other public forum about what Dabo should do when it comes to making his decisions who to, or not to play regardless of their opinions, so Nikki, in the future please keep your opinions about how the FB program is being run to yourself. Yes he has eyes AND he’s also emotionally attached to the players. We aren’t or shouldn’t be since we don’t personally know or spend time with them. I don’t see what’s going on in an emotional way but I know what my eyes are telling me right now. How many times have all of us let our emotions direct our decisions?? Many times I’m sure. It’s not a good thing to do sometimes.

Maybe you should keep your opinions to yourself. She has the right to voice her concern same as anyone else. Literally everyone, including recruits, see the train wreck our offense is right now and her comments does not make him look any worse than he already did. Dabo has already made it clear he doesn't care what fans and everyone else thinks. Maybe his boss (people forget she's the most influential member of the board) speaking up will finally make him take notice.

You are correct but, 99 out of 100 Tiger fans that maybe agree, they aren't public figures with our opinions brought to national attention, and that's why I believe she should've said nothing at all. If she felt she needed to say anything, it would have been best if she would have said, I trust what Dabo Swinney believes to be best for the team, we have won two National Championships under his leadership, so I feel that he knows what he is doing!!!
My opinion that will never get national awareness is that I wish Cade Klubnik would have had at least a Quarter of playing time in most games bc, if he had, he would have a pretty good head start on becoming our starter during fall practice of 2023!!! Go Tigers!!!!

Most of our games were not clearly decided by the start of Q4.
However, to me the BC game was a wasted opportunity for not just Cade, but numerous other backups to get extensive playing time.
BC HC Jeff Hafley wasn't the only person who was irritated at Clemson's lack of substitution in the BC game.

I wish they would have asked her about that $0.50 a gallon gas tax she approved before she left that was supposed to have gone to fixing our roads that only got tar patches. Some roads are being redone now, but only bc SC excepted Federal money for repairing our infrastructure....

The problem is whoever asked her that question in a public forum. Someone looking for headlines or clickbait. It’s kind of like when they ask Dabo about political issues. Puts them in a bad spot where they can’t win on a subject they probably weren’t expecting to have to talk about and isn’t in their area of expertise. Answer and get criticized or dance around the question or don’t answer it and get criticized.

Nikki Haley is a high profile public person, and honestly, when she was asked a question about what should be done with the QB situation at Clemson, I think she would have best served the FB program a lot better if she would have just said, that is a question for HC Swinney, not me bc I'm not around that situation enough to give you a knowledgeable answer and left it at that. Then say, IPTAY my check is in the mail!!!

She is right with most opinions in Tiger nation, but as a public figure, she probably should have kept her opinion to herself bc there were other option she could have answered with like, that is a question you should be asking the HC bc, no one knows his players better than he does!!!

All I have to say is...when 90% of the fan base is calling for a QB change, almost every analyst that's weighed in on the situation (reliable or not) is calling for a QB change and every other football fanbase in the country is saying we need a QB change; then it might be time for a QB change.

I don't know if Klubnick is better than DJ or not. Other than GT and one or two nice runs against Syracuse, what has he really done? However, he does have a nice set of wheels that can stress a defense differently than DJU can. Maybe that is something that could have been utilized more but it's not like we've been killing people in the first half like TL16 and DW4 used to do.

Klubnick shows flashes of just being a great player in general the very few times he has been in. The offense just seems more energetic when he is in as well. DJ might have him edged out in playbook knowledge and not running out the pocket unnecessarily. But Klubnik from the extremely small sample size we have seen has better mobility, better accuracy and better field vision.
That leads me my next point. If our Wide Receivers are so bad and we can't pass because of them, then we need to just go back to last years plan and just run the football constantly. And if we want keep the QB run a threat, put Cade and his wheels in and put DJ in for goal line situations for that extra size and push.
