And NCAA not allowing players to receive pay while coaches are wiping up as are schools.
Also showed a photo taken by higher up cam camera of Clemson & Alabama players pushing each other at line of scrimmage .
New book out that's stirring up the pot against the college sports system as it exists now is called INDENTURED.
Better enjoy it while you can b/c same type activists took down Disney's Shamu having babies in captivity!

Stipends were asked for first. But that wasn't enough, just a first step. Now athletics has to share revenue with all. Recognize this tactic when gun legislation and other civil liberties are being infringed upon. Flame away demotards, but you know I'm right. You just can't admit it.

You bemoaned a movement that is attempting to increase rights of student athletes, comparing it to efforts to decrease rights of gun owners.

Not a Republican v Democrat Issue

I'm not sure how or why you're trying to turn this into democrats vs republicans, but that's not accurate. If anything, we're more democratic today and moving toward republican values. For the most part, the money from TV, admissions, concessions, etc. gets spent producing the revenue generating sports and funding the non-revenue sports. There are some successful coaches getting rich and there are a handful of programs that turn a profit.
For the most part, we have something of a socialist system today, but are moving toward a more capitalistic system. Prior to "full cost of attendance", all scholarship athletes were treated equally regardless of how well they played. Sure, some stars got extra perks under the table, but to do so was an NCAA violation. Now, if you're good enough to get a football or basketball scholarship at a power 5 school, you get an extra benefit.
We're just going to go further down that road to the point that the stipend for the starting left tackle will be $16K, but the redshirt freshman who only plays on extra points and FGs gets $1,200. We'll be paying signing bonuses up to $5K at the coach's discretion.
BTW, we might have to drop a few Olympic sports and ticket prices might go up a bit, but that's capitalism. In fact, true capitalism would say eliminate Olympic and women's sports altogether.

It's hard enough now for schools to afford the non revenue women's scholarships to offset 85 foitball scholarships and why so many smaller schools have dropped foitball - and why Clemson dropped swimming and doesn't have women's softball. Barring repeal of title IX, the day colleges have to start (materially) paying football players will be the day college football dies.

want to play, quit the team and pay for your way through school like the rest of us.
If anything, i have a better chance to argue that it is unfair for me to continue to pay back $40k in student loans that athletes don't have to based on the discrimination of my lack of athletic ability and therefore inability to obtain an athletic scholarship.

An education is payment. If you think about it, I would say MOST of us working folks make our companies much money but don't get to divide it up. We get to keep our JOBS......anyhow, this country has become the land of the entitled and easily offended.

Anybody seen those commercials where they're essentially begging people to call Dish Network so they won't drop them? Nobody watches that liberal garbage except for maybe the occasional cheap laugh.

Two points...one about paying players and one about Dabo:
Mar 17, 2016, 10:17 AM
|
|
1) I've said it before and I'll say it again...spare me this "Woe is the athlete" garbage. No one is "exploited" beyond the broadest definition (where every exchange is an exploitation of something). Has anyone found the college program with scholarships that NO ONE is accepting? No? Wonder why. When Kent State knocks on your door and says "I will OFFER you a full ride to a sub-standard education, but you HAVE to play the sport you love in front of about 12,000 people every week" why every year are they able to fill their roster? Because it is a heck of a deal. You're welcome, student-athletes. And that doesn't even compare to Clemson knocking on your door and saying "I'd like to OFFER you a full ride to a quality education, but you have to play the sport you love in front of 82,000 screaming adoring fans. If you're truly great, you'll have the best coaching and training to prepare yourself to make millions of dollars in the NFL after spending three years at our school." And that says nothing about getting a full ride to be a back-up at Stanford or Duke. Again, congratulations on your lucky break, student-athletes.
2) I love Dabo becoming the evil face of "not wanting to pay players". Spurrier was all for it. Who do you think actually cares about those players more? It's not even close, and it's not even close for most of these coaches who "have their players' backs" about "gettin' paid." Dabo's sincere concern for the actual development and success of his players is light-years ahead of most of those guys.

Did Dabo say that Kent State is a terrible education ? My HS gym coach had his diploma from Kent State ...he seemed intelligible and able to use correct punctuation. I'm gonna have to reassess the B I recieved in that class ...because before I thought it was about skipping class occasionally and being tardy often .

I will never be one of those that will agree to pay college players for playing sports.
If the media (ESPN and others) are that concerned, then fine, let them contribute too. Let's see, ESPN took in about $600 million for the Championship game alone. I'm thinking about $100,000 per player should be fair, leaving them plenty to make a profit.
Wait! What? That doesn't sound fair to you? Come on ESPN. If anyone exploits the players, it's the media. Yep, that's what I thought, you wanted the players to be compensated, just as long as it wasn't part of your earnings. Funny how that works!
