The fumbled snap from shotgun last Saturday

7

I think it was more the fault of the center than Cade, because it came out at an angle. What say you?

Agree.

The snap was way off the mark and caused the whole mess.

It almost cost us the game... if the game ended at halftime.

Cade should have called a timeout. They rushed it with the play clock running down.

Hot, low and away. It was a touch snag for Cade. More on the center.

The ball was also snapped towards Mafah's side running into the play on the snap. High and away and largely in Mafah's grill by the time he arrived.

Something to learn from all around.

Snap was bad but so was the defender who got there the same time as the ball.

Am I the only person that thought their guy was clearly offsides?

Duke seemed to be getting jumps on a number of snaps. I wonder if we don't have a tell on some snaps. Hopefully 'did' going forward.

It was an errant snap...

but Cade made matters worse by then trying to hand-off the ball before he had complete control of it.

THE KID HAS GOT TO LEARN to take better care of the ball.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Not just on that snap, but many others on many teams, I have

seen similar fumbles happen on snaps that were not all that bad. It seems to happen when the QB has an absolutely preconceived notion about where the football is going to be, instead of just watching where it actually goes.

:(

I think it's just a symptom of the offensive style...

Almost every team lines up, starts the snap count, stops and looks to the sideline. There's just a lot going on. Kind of surprised it doesn't happen more than it does.

Center 100%

I watched the ball come up into Cade's hands wobbling.
I had zero blame on Cade or Mafah.

I had a great (almost coaches) view and angle of the snap too.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it was a complete knuckle ball***

Not every snap is perfect, just like every pass isnt either

So the one receiving has to show some agility and flexibility to adjust accordingly. It takes two to tango and to make it work. The snap wasn’t that far off that it couldn’t have been handled. Not ideal, but not fumble worthy. The biggest problem with a snap like that is it takes the QB’s attention away from the play momentarily and that time is valuable for the QB to read the D and make decisions.

Did you see the Bama game. Their center was snapping every third one at the QB’s feet. He was having to pick the ball up off the ground! That is killer there. Lost a whole 1.5 seconds just handling the snap!

Yes and no. It was a bad snap for sure BUT Cade should have called a TO because the play clock was down to 1 second when the snap got off. That's what happen when you hurry like that. Should have called the TO, settled everyone down, and none of that would have happened.

Screw Calford.

The Chas So DE jumped way offsides and the center snapped the ball, as taught to draw an offsides penalty. Two things went wrong:

1) Offsides wasn’t called by the line judge
2) Cade wasn’t ready for the snap

Everything that happened post snap was a cluster.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think Cade needs to see that unblocked end and get out of

Sep 12, 2023, 9:38 AM

that play. If that dude is not coming the play has a chance.

How the D End was not called offsides was beyond me. Center probably saw him go and then snapped it to get the flag and they did not call it. #### show from there on out lol

Anyone think that was supposed to be direct snap to Mafah?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We just need to get the bone head plays fixed, regardless

Of whose fault it is. Hopefully it will get better this next game.
