A really nice HS gym though. I guess that’s what we need.

And maybe Brad would do a better job if he got paid 1/3 of what he does now.

But..but St. Bonaventure is in Allegheny, NY. Much easier to recruit there than at a basketball poor state like South Carolina.

There you go Judge. Sometimes it is the coach that makes a difference and the facilities. Is Brad going to coach better in a new house?

The difference is their fans travel 700 miles to see their team play, ours can't go ten miles to see our team play.

It’s not the reason we lost. It’s part of the reason we don’t recruit as well as other teams in the ACC, because who wants to play in half empty stadiums. The reason we lost is because they’re an extremely experienced team that starts 4 seniors who know how to win close games. Meanwhile we’re a very young team with 2 transfers in the regular rotation. That problem has nothing to do with coaching, the only fix is time which requires a little bit of patience.

I wasn't making an excuse I was simply providing a little more context as to why high majors lose to mid majors. We should've won this game, but the sky isn't falling because we lost to a nationally ranked team that went to the tournament last year and returned almost all of their starters.

Okay, so St. Bonaventure has a really good program.

But how??? When they play in a high school gym and pay their head coach less than a million?
That just seems to defy the most popular excuses for why we can’t be great.

I don't know if they are a really good program, they just have a really good team this year. As far as St. Bonaventure goes it's just a bunch of experienced players playing at the same place, at the same time. But Clemson has had that before, we had that in 2017 with the sweet 16 team. The problem for St. Bonaventure will be repeating this year's success because next year they're gonna have to play with an entirely different starting lineup. And although this is probably the best team they've had in years, they had their hands full with the Clemson Tigers who hasn't scratched the surface of their potential.

No excuse for losing this game

except for the fact that St. Bonaventure was favored to win, has more experienced players overall than we have, and had home court advantage.
We lost by 3, in what felt like a road game, early in the season, against an NCAA Tournament team. No shame in that if we are honest with ourselves.

doesn't matter, IMO. When you lead as much as we did at half time . . you should not loose. Halftime is when changes are made. You have to expect the opposing team to make changes and you have to be ready to counter. Obviously, we did not counter. So . . I know who's to blame.

To be fair, clemson only matters nationally because you got lucky with 2 QBs in football(one is going to jail). You'll never ever be more than a bid level ACC school. You can build the largest stadium in history, won't change that.

They are a small school--less than 2000 enrolled. I remember them having good bb teams years ago.

Normal fans would wonder how on earth

a team from 800+ miles away that has a much smaller alumni base than we do could possibly have more fans than we do at a game played in our home state, just a few hours from our campus.
THAT tells you all you need to know about Clemson’s issue.
Can you imagine UNC, Duke, Virginia, or many other ACC teams playing a tournament game in their home state and their fans being outnumbered by fans from small school located almost in Canada? Didn’t think so.
But it’s acceptable at Clemson, because football.
The fact that you started a dewshy post like this is very telling.
By the way, there is no shame in this loss. The Bonnies are easily a tourney team, and they have a ton of experience. It stinks anytime we lose, but our team will learn and grow from this. You’ll see.

Hmmm…
I think you need to check your point.
