Two losses in a row for FSU they are a completely different team from last year. I think this shows the issue of being so dependent on the portal. You just can’t be a consistent team when you try and receive most of your talent from the portal. I think the way that Kirby put it is the best philosophy about it. I don’t know the diagnosis of Clemsons problem, but I think the people who point only to the portal are wrong. It’s deeper and bigger than that.

Ga Tech's QB, Haynes King is a TAMU transfer.
Georgia has a bunch of transfers.
So, apparently, portal teams can beat other portal teams s as well as the non portal unicorn that is Clemson.

An establish program should only need to sprinkle in portal for the invariable losses that everyone will have every year. The vast majority of your recruiting should come from the high school ranks

The OL didn't reject Clemson, they rejected the no NIL or little NIL offered by Clemson. Dabo has said he will not use NIL to attract players.

I don’t think most want us to build a roster like fsu did or like Colorado and bring in new guys every year , we still recruit well and have plenty of talent but I think we could def use the portal to help us , like last year we prob don’t lose a couple games with a proven kicker in the portal for example , or one of those big time wr to help … and no disrespect to Cade but still have faith in the kid and wanna see him and give him a chance agaisnt a non uga team/defesne who is gonna make a lot of qbs struggle this year…. But if we were able to grab a guy like cam ward for example this team does immediately to a national title contender… I feel like we def could use it in a few positions but no I don’t ever wanna be reliant on it.

play more than overall portal. Although leaning too heavily on the portal is certainly bad. Hard to create continuity year to year skiing that.
As far as FSU taking DJ, if I remember correctly they targeted at least 2 other QB’s before him. It was like DJ was the last big name left.
