I think this will only benefit him and the team the following year. Seems like a rare move, but I like it and hope it works out for him

Admittedly, I don't know alot about bball, but I'm not sure I see the reasoning behind this.

Don't think his HS coach is lovin' it right now

I don't see a whole lot of benefit in not playing his senior year at DWD, especially a guy who can use some more time to mature on/off the court. Gonna be awkward in a year when D-Rad gives Coach Mom the 'pink slip'.

Smart move by this kid in case mom or Brownell gets canned. Reserves him a spot just in case, and buys him at least one year at CU in the event there is a change. If mom and Brownell are retained, even better.

You don't see the benefit to it?

Playing against college players, learning the system, getting a head start on academics, college weight and nutrition, and will be eligible for the teams summer overseas trip to play games which I believe they have on the 4 year rotation this year. Nah, no way that's better for him than playing Walhalla and BHP

I'd say he is not ready physically or mentally to move up with the big boys...it's not like he's a 5 star stud in size or ability. Very nice pickup at a skill position and fits a need, but as a general rule, he's probably not ready to play up with the big boys quite yet. Definitely easier than in FB, but I hope I'm wrong and he doesn't get overwhelmed.

He will catch up faster in all of those areas at Clemson

than he would in HS. Of course he's not ready to play with the big boys yet. That's why he's redshirting.

stayed in high school. Only now he gets all the training benefits of college, the adjustment to the academics without games, and the chance to play with the team overseas in the summer. He'll be far more ready to compete next year with that rather than playing against Pickens and Easley

Great move by him. I think it is a win-win, because it will benefit Clemson too.
I don't understand why some posters here don't see that.

Unless I missed something in the article. Usually it says they'll complete their degree. Dabo said on CFB Live that they are students first. What if he gets a career-ending injury? McDonalds? Burger King? Nothing but contempt here.

Sometimes people just engage in silly ad hominems, which is unfortunate. I like having intelligent debates.

you killed the intelligent debate part when you said we aren't requiring diplomas or he wouldn't get into Clemson by his own merits.
