It,s not that bad. It's more about how to take the test similar to SAT. Where are you located? In NYC there is a company NYIF that gives course prep really helps. They should have online course prep

I was nervous at first, but I studied for a couple months and felt extremely prepared. I'm not really sure how so many people fail other than they probably don't put in the preparation.
Now the 66 on the other end was way less material, but actually much harder. Maybe I think ethics is too subjective?
Anyway, just take the practice tests a lot and you'll be fine.

I've got my Series 4, 7, 24, and 63/65. As well as holding the CFP designation, and passed Level 1 CFA exam.
You'll use about 1% of the Series 7 information in your career, but you have to get the test out of the way unfortunately. Honestly it's nothing compared to the 24, General Principal, exam if you want to manage other registered reps or escalate your career eventually. And neither of those hold a candle to the CFP or CFA exams. Those are 12-18 months of daily studying...forget about having a social life for a while lol.
Good luck! Just bury yourself in the material and get it done...it'll be even worse if you have to take it again.
