Parity is here to stay and Clemson will never be as dominant as once was possible. We had record success and elite teams compared to most in the past. But in those days we simply had greater talent than most of the teams we played.
I definitely agree we’ve got some big time players coming back next year. However, teams around us can just grab tons of seasoned talent and compete instantly. Nothing is a guarantee anymore and our expectations must be realistic. Even Alabama will never be as as elite as they’ve been in the past. Saban saw that coming before he ever stepped away. And I believe it’s why Saban stepped away.
The transfer portal and NIL has changed things dramatically regardless of our denial. I do believe this coming season will be our greatest chance to get back near the top. But if we didn’t play in the ACC, I would tell you that wouldn’t even be possible. Even Georgia who demolished us barely got into the playoffs with two losses.
I’m very optimistic but also realistic.

This isn’t our first disappointing recruiting class in Dabos tenure, so I’ll hold off on preparing the eulogy just yet.
And frankly I think elite teams in general are a thing of the past. To me what makes a team elite is a depth. And I don’t see many teams having elite depth when there will always be programs poaching quality backups for a feature role.
We are still years out on the market settling, so who knows what happens next.

I would say we will never be dominant again w dabo at the helm. He doesn’t like to use the portal and that is holding us back big time, not to mention our recruiting is no where near elite like it use to be when Dabo was young and hungry.

lol you know nothing about ball. We have one of the most talented rosters in the country.
Btw Clemson was better before we started getting these “elite” players pinned the recruiting services. Our national champ teams never had the amount of starts we have now in the roster.
If our players aren’t elite then why are elite programs trying to poach them ?
