I’ll be looking for SEC Coaches faking medical emergencies on the sidelines.

The rule used to be that every injury that created a stop in play...

.... resulted in a time out for the team with the injured player.

That rule was changed because kids who were truly injured were "encouraged" by their coaches to get off the field on their own power in order to savbe a time out. So, you saw guys with leg injuries trying to hop off the field with on one leg. The rule was changed for player safety.

So, coaches figured out how to use the rule for their advantage.

Expect this year to see guys hopping off the field and collapsing on the sideline with a real injury. Or, even worse, expect to see guys trying to get off the field and then collapsing while still on the field further injuring himself.

I would have preferred a rule where every injury is reviewed by the booth (clearly, there is time to do so) and if the injury is declared fake, then the team is penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Actually, my first suggestion would be to change the rule to any player who comes off the field due to injury which leads to a stoppage in play must remain off the field until a change of possession occurs.

We don't need more booth reviews.

I like the rule. It states "after the ball is spotted". That will prevent the need to hobble off if you are actually hurt on the play.

in both football and in hoops a booth review should not be a free timeout to get coaching instuctions. They should have to hold their spots till review is completed
