No matter your politics, you simply must read this

Jul 21, 2017, 1:00 PM

"According to a Reuters investigation in March, at least 63 buyers with Russian addresses or passports spent $98 million on Trump’s properties in south Florida. What’s more, another one-third of the units—more than 700 in all—were bought by shadowy shell companies that concealed the true owners."
.....

"The feds wanted to arrest Ivankov, but he kept vanishing. “He was like a ghost to the FBI,” one agent recalls. Agents spotted him meeting with other Russian crime figures in Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, and Toronto. They also found he made frequent visits to Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, which mobsters routinely used to launder huge sums of money. In 2015, the Taj Mahal was fined $10 million—the highest penalty ever levied by the feds against a casino—and admitted to having “willfully violated” anti-money-laundering regulations for years."

If only a 10th of this article is true.....we're all in a lot of trouble.

No matter your politics, you simply must ignore this

It's New Republic. If someone linked to Breitbart or Gateway Pundit, would you read the column with any semblance of open-mindedness?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bingo. At this point, I'm going to get all my Trump/Russia

Jul 21, 2017, 1:06 PM

news from Robert Mueller. Until he speaks on it, it will not occupy my attention.

Actually I would and have. I also read Drudge, RedState and National Review on occasion. If you only read from sites that just confirm your views, then you become lazy and learn nothing.

There are always 2 sides to every issue. Only a fool hears only 1 side.

In fairness, I was refered to the site by someone. It's the first time I've ever been to New Republic.

I ignore sites that have a demonstrable "side."

Then you ignore gateway pundit, redstate, foxnews, brietbart, msnbc, huffpost etc, etc, etc?

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all argument, and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance. This principle is, contempt prior to examination."

Read the article, then decide.

Yes. I ignore all of those, with the notable exceptions of Fox News and MSNBC websites. CNN is on the ignore list lately.

I bounce between FoxNews, CNN and MSNBC. MSNBC is hardest to watch, I'm a liberal independent...and they embarrass even me with how biased they are sometimes.

I read Wall St. Journal, NY Times, National Review, The Hill and Redstate regularly.

Read the article Stan. I'm interested in your thoughts.

There's a difference between bias and schlock.

Jul 21, 2017, 1:25 PM [ in reply to No matter your politics, you simply must ignore this ]

The New Republic is liberal, but it's not garbage. Similarly, the National Review is biased, but not garbage. Breitbart and the Gateway Pundit are infotainment dumpster fires.

i kinda don't want to even write this, but here goes

Jul 21, 2017, 1:07 PM

is there a law against doing business with russians?

are these the only shadow companies doing business in America or do we have some homegrown companies making shady deals?

aren't we all circumventing the tax law in one way or another with our write-offs and deductions and creative math?

if the FBI couldn't get their man, how is that Trump's fault?

-not a trumper
-not a 2 wrongs make it right guy
-just asking questions

All very fair questions. If you read the article, you'll find it fair as well.

Read the article, you won't regret it.

Yes, laundering money from the Russian mafia / gov't (they're the same) is a felony in the US. (Just like laundering money from US drug gangs and the mafia is a felony.)

THE DONALD, and his family, are guilty; we wl all see soon. (The Donald is running scared.) Lock them all up! Lock them all up! (Seems like a cheer that Hillary might want to lead. As would John McCain; and Marco R; and Ted Cruz; and Obama; and both George Bushes, etc, etc)

No, but there should be a law against people using Obama or Clinton as some kind of defense against Trump. The "yeah, but look at them' defense is inaccurate, disingenuous and completely misses the point.

Watch Million Dollar Listings - New York

Jul 21, 2017, 6:07 PM

75% of buyers are foreign nationals paying cash looking for a place to park their money. Russians buying Trump condos doesn't really faze me since they're buying from all builders/developers in NYC.
