We are behind because of Dabo's stance. I know there is no way I'll give a dime until I see that we are going to finally start signing some portal players and going after a select few big time recruits with NIL.
I have the utmost confidence that many Clemson fans will step up once this is proven, but any kind of plea by the AD or Dabo at this point imploring us that we have to step up is BS. Clemson Nation would have stepped up in a big way had they not flubbed this whole process so badly from the start.
And I love Dabo and all he has done and hope he stays forever but enough with these head scratcher stances!

Article says hoops has led the way on NIL or something like that. What have they done others haven't and why are they so slow on the uptake given Clemson was one of the first scholarship fund schools years ago. THis tie in on IPTAY points w 110 - why wasnt that done from the get go? Sounds like it is only for a limited period also. Hope that is to smoke out initial donors and will become permanentr

I believe Dabo has spent last year's money wisely by retaining roster talent. I believe Dabo went into the portal last year but was not able to get difference makers that would be an upgrade to current talent…probably because of funds. Dabo is in the portal now because he needs to be and probably has more funds to get the needed help. I believe the article accurately states the problem “we need more money to compete at the highest level”. And lastly I believe if you’re on this platform you significantly value Clemson Football and should support those things in life you put a high value on.

When someone uses an extreme example as the norm to prove their point you know they are trolling.
FWIW, every single team in the playoffs this year used the portal to enhance their roster except one team who is using the last of their top recruits gained before NIL was the driver to limp along.

Why is is hard to understand Colorado was 1-11 before Deion and he portal experience?! Their record was better than ours and they played a tougher schedule according to SOS metrics. You enjoy losing 4 games a year? That’s where we’re stuck until we embrace this new Wild West.

While I don’t like it compared to the good old days, things have changed and we’ve been VERY slow to react. Until very recently I think IPTAY has actually been opposed to the Society 110 because they were afraid it would take some of their contributions, which it probably will. I doubt that most IPTAY donors are going to just double down and put another $2500 into the 110 fund on top of the $2500 they give to IPTAY.
I made my contribution ( not $2500!) and I wrote them a note about how slow they have been and how primitive the Website is. Take a look if you haven’t. It’s like the dial up internet with AOL. But that can be quickly fixed too.
Bottom line, Clemson fans must get on board to pay these players or we will fall behind very quickly. I think rules and regulations are coming and they will help, but pay to play is, I’m afraid, here to stay.

Kinda funny I kinda wrote the same type of note. I also ripped them about allowing secondary market ticket sales to drive the price to attend a game to astronomical levels. But, yes. We have to get portal aggressive. I hate it. But you have to use all the tools in the box.

There some misinformation in there. He said we don’t have the money but we do. We have the 9th largest NIL purse in college football. We just aren’t spending it the right way. Before IPTAY joined 110 society we were 17th among public schools. What a difference a couple weeks makes. Dabo needs to buy the FIU receiver, Singleton from Tech, the DE from Purdue, and quite a few more players to build competitive depth and elite skill players.
