No big 12 for Clem or FSU ! Swofford out the ACC

May 14, 2012, 9:35 AM

I have been keeping up with this topic about Clemson and FSU leaving.. and I think it is a bad idea the money they both Clemson and FSU will gain from the join the big 12 will not cover the traveling for the major sports ( football, basketball, and baseball ) Yes I know the move may help the NC race for the teams but it’s not worth it. The best thing to do is get Swofford out because his only looking out for basketball and the Tar heels.. Hello he is a UNC grad!!! All the only major conferences (big 10, 12, East, Pac 12 and SEC) commissioner are not grads from only of the schools that are in that conferences....

that's not correct...

WVU estimated a $1 million dollar increase in travel for ALL SPORTS...

guess we'll see

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

exactly simple math we get atleast an additional 4 million

May 14, 2012, 9:40 AM

you subtract 1 million for additional travel, heck subtract 2 and we are still ahead by 2 million minimum

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you don't change conferences for 2 mil a year- not when

May 14, 2012, 9:51 AM

you'd owe 20 mil in an exit fee.

If we can get 7-10 more, then you look at it but you have to have the same/better exposure you have now and you got to take into account what it could do to recruiting since you are leaving your home territory.

Going to the B12 with FSU still gives us FL but Georgia/NC recuiting changes-- as do the mid atlantic states-- hard to know that impact. would be much better if FSU, CL, GT, MD, VT and State went

WVU got the "family discount"

May 14, 2012, 10:55 AM [ in reply to that's not correct... ]

since they are all in the same one.

GT supposedly looked into the Big 10 and they estimated their costs to go up by 8-10 million. Not sure if that is related to travel or other "fees."

BigXII Travel Expenses. Conferences may arrange to cover travel expenditure for its sponsored competitions. Due to the different geographical hurdles of each conference, some conferences help their member schools out more than others. The ACC gives each school a travel allowance and will help additionally in special circumstances such as BCS bowl games. The BigXII allows each team to bill the conference for all of its conference-related travel expenses for every sponsored sport. Once each team has been reimbursed appropriately, the remaining conference earnings are split evenly amongst the member institutions.
