I think I read somewhere - in some kind of scholarly legal and biology journals, that you're both allowed and physically able to yell just as loud and persistently at noon as you are at night.

The elderly can't and therefore don't yell loudly at games. Hence the noon favor and hence the lack of energy. Only so much you can get out of straight Ensure.
Queue the... "I was attending games when there was no upper deck and no fans and we parked next to the stadium and ate .25c hot dogs while we sat on the dirt".... etc. crowd.
