Dec 9, 2020, 1:29 PM

Treating my wife to a few days in Hilton Head and need some recommendations for good food and beverage. It is our first trip to HH...Any suggestions??
Will be proudly wearing the Paw to annoy the O31-0 infiltrators!! I hear there are many in HH

Hudson’s

Lots of options depending upon what you like...

I've always liked Hudsons and the Old Oyster Factory but tourists frequent them too and they're usually both really crowded.

You might consider Coast and Catch 22. Excellent food.

I also like Wise Guys but it's a bit overpriced IMO.

If you're looking for a deli type place, try Stu's.

Link's down in Harbortown is a good steak place.

Ditto on Skillets - For Breakfast Only-Great Egg's Benedict & House French Toast (Best EVER!)
Ditto on Crane's - Mainly for Prime Rib or Beef, although the Jambaliya(sp?) is good also
Red Fish - For Seafood, recommend the Sea Bass but only on Thursdays or Fridays when it's fresh
CQ's - One minute walk to Harbor Town, has a nice little outdoor area and has the BEST Pork Chop I've ever eaten
Catch 22 is also good, has a little of everything, recommend the Hush Puppies and Mushroom Portabella(sp?) app's and the Trilogy

Best value for quality, portion and price is THE SEA SHACK.

Dec 9, 2020, 2:22 PM

It is a hole in the wall type of place, but great for take-out.

We always stop by there whenever in HH.

Good call on The Sea Shack...

It's kinda like Mac's in Clemson. The counter takes up most of the space inside so it's not ideal for dine-in.

Seafood - Old Oyster Factory
German - Alfred's Restaurant (may need a reservation)
Captain Woody's has a great trigger fish or grouper sandwich
Pizza - Fat Baby's or Dough Boys
Italian - Pomodori's (you may need a reservation). Bella is a little easier to get in to and also very good.

CQ's at Harbor Town is very good. But if you really want to rub some salt in the butthurt buckaroos, then Mangiamos pizza is the spot, just don't eat anything.

I've been going to Hilton Head several times a year for 35 years. Trust me!
Hudsons is a fish camp that you can find anywhere.Tourist Spot. $$
Skull Creek Boathouse is the best all around place on the island for casual dining. Lunch or dinner.$$
WiseGuys is outstanding for dinner. Great bar food and fine dining.$$$
British Open Pub is great for drinks or lunch.$$
Old Fort Pub is outstanding for fine dining. $$$$
Enjoy your trip. Hilton Head Island is SC's greatest treasure.

Really like Skull Creek...

Dec 9, 2020, 3:48 PM

The location has been a lot of different things over the years (The Landing, #### of the Walk, and Dockside among others).

Kenny B's cajun cooking. He's a Bulldog fan, but his food is very good. Personally I like their breakfast. If you do breakfast, try the Breaux Bridge breakfast with crawfish and grits. It is really delicious.

I like Hudsons better than Lee's Inlet Kitchen in Murrells Inlet. My recommendation is to go there for lunch.
For dinner more upscale fare would include a French/American spot called Charlie's L'Etoile Verte and at Coligny an even more upscale one called Vine! Bon Appetit

On the beach

If you want to do a little something special go the Beach Club inside Sea Pines. Great food and right on the beach.

^^^ This, assuming the weather is nice.

If you are looking for something more upscale, we prefer Nunzio. Rustic Italian with a cool bar.
