It might help a bit to change the rule on the QB slide back to marking him down where he hits the ground - not where he begins the slide.

Those are pretty much the same thing

The slide starts when a body part other than the hand or foot touches the ground.
Before that, the ball carrier is still a runner.

In college, the QB is down where he starts the slide...very interpretive

I believe Cade got called short last year at a couple of inopportune times.

Doing it when he hits the ground will only encourage more hits like TL took.

You can thank the Pitt QB for that when they played WF in the ACCCG. He did the fake slide step and the defenders backed off, then ran into the end zone. Legal back then but down today.

I don't know the NFL rule, but that was a dirty hit. TL was on his rear when he was hit.

He needs the healthcare CEO treatment lol

That was the textbook cheap shot

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

one. Maybe next time he can just jump feet first and do a curb stomp.

Any rational person, other than someone who just wants to be a contrarian and constantly argue about everything, can agree that it wasn't a normal tackle but a hit that was meant to injure or knock the QB out of the game. That's why everyone brawled afterward. The actual football players knew what it was. For this coach to say that is homer-ism and he probably lost alot of respect league wide for not being the adult in the room. He would not be saying that if it was CJ Stroud.

I actually agree

He started his slide late. Dude could have rolled off the tackle, but he rolled off while putting his forearm square on Trevor’s helmet which is the issue.

Next time they play, I'd call a crossing route. The screening receiver should take his head off.
