Don't expect the Tigers to fall apart
The text came during a friendly back-and-forth last week about Georgia’s recruiting and what I deemed a questionable, at best, move as Kirby Smart reportedly pulled an offer from a player from Texas: “As soon as that quarterback leaves, Clemson will take a big step back.” Wrong. Full Story » |

Bush league by Kirby Smart. Definition of desperate.

Clemson has 6-10 win seasons in a row. Love Deshaun, but he only played the majority of games in 2 of those. He was a big part of the third. That means 3 of those he wasn't even playing. No doubt, there is a question, a possible void when DW leaves. But, what is the state of the Georgia program? It is much more likely that we continue to do well and dominate than it is for him to bring Georgia up to our level. Very low by him and shows he is desperate. He will fail b/c of him thinking he has to negative recruit against us. The fact that he says it means he knows we're a formidable opponent on the recruiting trail.

To be clear, that was NOT from Kirby. It was a UGA fan talking about that situation. I will clarify.

Quoted statement directly follows what UGA did, so I took it as they went hand and hand together.

As did I. After I reread it and figured how the words were parsed, I got it. Confusing, at least to me. That said, I don't put that past "Smart".

Just bc Kirby has worked for Nick Saban, it doesn't even hint that he will ever become the coach that Saban is, or will he IMO ever be!!!

Well done, "lovingit", and I share your thoughts. He is no Nick Saban, but it will take ugay about 5 years of experimentation to figure that out.

Word to Kirby not so Smart, Boom and others
Dec 26, 2016, 3:04 PM

Clemson has developed a culture of winning ways under Dabo; that has been handed down from class to class and is evident. Our ability to recruit is also evident and our coaching staff's ability to coach guys up is solidified by the Clemson players in the NFL. That coaching staff is also as stable as any coaching staff in college football. Brent isn't going anywhere and I believe it will be a little while before our OCs get a look that they would be interested in (Clemson grads to boot). Possition coaches have been awarded financially and respected here, which leaves Clemson grad and QB coach B Streeter as the one with the biggest opportunity to move up elsewhere first.
Good luck with your little spin on that, chumps!

Ah, saw it listed as so in the article. Still, I know at least Boom is selling this, sure he is not the only one.

We updated it. I wasn't as clear as I needed to be so we had an add to be clear. But I did laugh at my friend when he texted me that.

Your friend is very under-informed about the capability of "Smart".

and delivered us to our first 10-win season in over two decades, with many to follow. How in the world could CU possibly replace someone like that?
Or Sammy? Nuk? Spiller? Davis?
Boom.
This program is seeming to embody the concept of raising the bar, despite how impossible it may seem to do so again after where it's been reset. Yet it keeps happening.
Go Tigers.

What Would Richt Be? Thats the question I pose to all of these Dawg fans. I live 20 min. from UGA and the fans all say, "when Smart gets his guys" or "when we recruit better" or "when he can get his system in place". Thats BS cop out. Georgia has been, is and always will be a program filled with talent, usually toward the top recruiting rankings.
So i say what does he need. UGA always pulls big talent at every position a big, fast, athletic Linebacker is a big, fast, athletic linebacker no matter who coaches. The kids that Smart is or will recruit are the same ones Richt would have recruited. The excuses are limitless. Georgia is stuck in neutral. I tried to tell these people they should be careful what they wish for and ask themselves "WWRB"? He darn sure wouldnt be 7-5.

He was handed a gold mine, and he has given the ugay fans the shaft. MR had a team loaded with 4-5 star players who didn't live up to expectations under his tutelage, but it doesn't seem like "Smart" has been able to get it very focussed either. Still, he seems to be light years ahead of muschump. I'm loving their quagmires.

Kirby ...Shmirby ....don't count on it . Yes, there is no question you don't easily replace a Deshaun Watson ..but we have a lot of talented QBs that will be competing for the starting QB position and I don't think we will drop off as much as Kirby makes it seem. Plus we are loaded at RB and WR and our defense should be more experienced and even better next year.
