How old is Coach K? How much longer will he do it?
Same for Roy Williams at North Carolina?
With the young guy at Virginia doing his thing now, the conference is in good hands, but Duke and North Carolina could be headed for some troubled waters soon. Basketball as much as I love it - does not generate anywhere near the same revenue as does college football! In college basketball the best players are usually one and done freshmen on stacked teams! 2nd, 3rd and 4th year players are not as good and people don't flock to see them as reverently.
All that to say: football pays for all the other sports except for basketball which does generate enough to pay for itself. But, football drives the athletic departments bus - even at schools who aren't great at football!
All that to say: the ACC needs someone in the commissioners seat who can get on board with football the way Swofford has with basketball. Check out the below; written before the season and some of the gaudy numbers associated with football revenue. Basketball revenue is good - but does not come close to these numbers! The ACC isn't even the premier basketball conference anymore is the worst part about it with all the emphasis on the sport. Someone who gets football and really all sports(laying down my bias) to all sports and universities is needed. Not just someone who wants to see the Tobacco Road teams do well.
