New NFL Rule (hypothetical)

How about this for a pre-weekend question - with the Mahomes roughing calls on the Texans the other week, how about putting velcro flags on the Quarterback and say he can't be tackled, but also not allow him to cross the line of scrimmage? Then there is no need for the referees to 'protect' the quarterback and the NFL teams can keep their main fan draw healthy. Or is that a step too far toward two hand touch for everyone in the name of 'safety'?

Last weekend showed they only protect certain QBs. Not all. I'd be okay if they didn't protect any QBs. Its football and its a violent game. If you don't want to get hurt, don't play.

They’ve always protected QBs differently.

Lamar and especially Cam ….

Agree, they don’t protect all QBs the same, but Maholmes pushes it too far with his antics - especially when on the sideline. Defenders pull up to let him step out and he steals 5+ more yards. It should be an unsportsman penalty. If he’s not happy with that then just go back to letting defenders blow them up when they are on the field. It’s football after all.

If you are out of the pocket and become a RB then normal rules should be applied. That crap they called last weekend was embarrassing. The refs should have been made to apologize and not referee anymore for 4-5 games starting next season. Just awful!
