Yes it was. And Chanelo’s pizza was pretty good too. But Frodos was the first time I had a beer that actually tasted good to me. Molson golden with that pizza was the start of a long beer career. 😂

We would leave TTT at closing time, stop by Chanelo's and order a "Danny Ford" to be delivered to Johnstone. We would walk / stumble to the our room and meet the delivery guy there. The "Danny Ford" was the best sub ever! (And a pretty good coach)

I worked at Chanello's from 84 - 87. It was total chaos on Friday and Saturday nights after TTT closed. I would leave every night with about 5 20-inch pizzas that either were a mistake or extra.

Also, Chanello's was actually a chain. Herb owned the one in Clemson and his brother owned something like 17 in other locations -- one of which was Chapel Hill.

They all sucked when I was there. We would get Chanellos though. It sucked, but hit the spot for what I needed at that stage in life. It was actually kind of a luxury at times.

I don’t know how back this place went but…..
My last duty station in the canoe club was Sasebo, Japan. My youngest daughter was in the 5th grade when we moved over there. For an afternoon game on EST we’d get it live at about 2:00 am local. My daughter would get up that early with me, we’d make “everything omelettes and listen to the radio broadcast streamed on the internet.
When I retired and we came home to SC, she couldn’t wait to experience Death Valley in person. But where do you tailgate with a 14 year old girl ? So we developed a personal tradition of shopping our way along College street toward the stadium…..after we hit Peppino’s for a medium pepperoni.

In the '60s there was a pizza shop on the corner of 123 and College Ave - inside they had a table shuffleboard game and they sold beer.
I don't remember the name of the place, but a pizza and a cold draft tasted better there than any pizza I've had since.

I was a student in the late 70s so Chanelos was the go to. Pizza Hut was beside the Red Carpet before TTT took over both spots!!
Also, early 80s there was a Capri’s located where the Study Hall is now.

I think Capri’s was downtown in the early-mid 70s and was the go to place.

Acropolis for the BEST Greek Pizza (mushrooms, black olives, onions, and green peppers).
Another good one was Mazzios or something like that.
Of course ITZA Pizza would do if you were short of dough that weekend.
