If I took an entire week off to celebrate my birthday I probably wouldn't have a job when I returned.
I don't get it.
Like treating dogs as humans. It makes no sense to me.

Yeah once you turn 21 or so theres not really anything much to celebrate other than not dying perhaps. Birthday weeks, much less birthday months, are totally foreign concepts to most people.

Older I get the more I appreciate it! I celebrate mine as do most people, but its basically still a one day thing, just like when I was ten.

I cant decide if I even wanna make 80. Most people in that age range I know dont have much going on so what's the point? I'll probably feel different if I make it to 79 though. Lol

My mom felt great in her 80s. Drove until she was 88. (And was a good driver) She’ll tell you 90 is when things start getting rough.
Her 103 year old friend though says she hasn’t peaked yet.

but I actually celebrated my 59.5 birthday more than any actual birthday I've had in years. That date made me feel like I had made it, I'm not sure why really. On the road to getting those sweet senior discounts and stuff!
The number 59.5 is significant primarily in the context of retirement planning in the United States, as it marks a key age for accessing retirement funds without penalty. Here's why 59.5 is important for retirement savings: Penalty-Free Withdrawals: Reaching age 59 and a half generally means you can begin taking distributions from your qualified retirement accounts, such as traditional IRAs and 401(k)s, without incurring the 10% early withdrawal penalty that usually applies to withdrawals before that age, according to Police Officers Association of Michigan and the IRS. This doesn't mean withdrawals are entirely tax-free; regular income taxes still apply to distributions from these types of accounts, as they are typically funded with pre-tax dollars.
Increased Flexibility and Options: This age provides greater flexibility in retirement income planning and opens up various strategies. For instance, some 401(k) plans allow in-service distributions at 59.5, meaning you might be able to start withdrawing funds even while still employed, according to Johnson Financial Group.
Roth IRA Considerations: For Roth IRAs, if you're at least 59.5 and have held the account for at least five years, distributions of investment earnings become both tax-free and penalty-free. You can always withdraw your contributions from a Roth IRA at any age, as they were already taxed.

Dogs do not belong in people places unless it is a stated policy they're allowed

I don't care how well behaved they are. They still piss and shit where they're not supposed to. And, it's not just about them. People have allergies. People have phobias. Therefore, dogs should not be where they're not explicitly allowed because the expectation is that they won't.
They DEFINITELY should not be in places that serve food.
I celebrate with the President's Own Band any time I read a story about an establishment dropping the hammer on some idiot with a "service dog."

Wrong. They belong just about everywhere. As long as well behaved. I like the French style, even in nice restaurants and every bar.

Dude was in one of the mid east wars and was pretty messed up over it. He had a service dog, a yellow lab, and he couldn't get a job because he needed her around.
Lowe's hired both of them.
His service dog had a Lowe's tag with her name on it and worked with him in the store. I thought that was a pretty cool story.

when your birthday and recognize that since there are two hundred or so days a year you are expected to be in a place. However, for the rest of the world that doesn't get a fall break, thanks giving break, Christmas break, spring break, easter break and whatever-in-the-hell-else-all, the time we use our vacation days isn't restricted.
Nobody is getting fired for taking 5 days off when their birthday is. I have reasonable doubt that you would either.
Now, that mean wife of yours may not take kindly to your burning up that time if it doesn't fit in with her plans on making memories with dem kids.

Taking the day off on his, his wife, or any of his 3 kids birthdays was mandatory. If the birthday fell on a Tues or Thurs, he was going to take off Mon and Fri as well.
I did not get it.

I treat both of my dogs like they are my kids.

Granted, it's only finishing the same amount of work as every week by 1pm on Friday, but still
Then I'm taking the weekend away from fam to go see Panic in St Augustine
That's my wife's birthday present to me, and I love it.
Also I wish my dog were well enough behaved that I could take him places, but oh well
