My weekend

Sep 13, 2021, 11:34 AM

Shaved my beard into a monkey tail.

Took Exit 199.

Dispatched an 8-3 gator.

Just for funsies, we pulled the gator into the boat before it dead and played don't let the alligator get you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

22 mag in the handheld

rifles and shotguns are not allowed

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

lol wait wut? You gotta lure that sumbich in and then shoot

Sep 13, 2021, 11:46 AM

at it with a pistol? I don't know why but this just looks funny in my head to think about. I would also think more a 22 couldn't pierce it's hide.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

22 mag hollow point is pretty lethal to a 130 lb animal from

Sep 13, 2021, 11:52 AM

2 ft away.

No, you don't lure it.

Around 12:30 am, I casted a 10/0 treble hook from about 30 yards away and snagged it in the tail. It dove down and sat in 22 ft of water. My friend pitched a second hook and snagged him. We pulled it up and got a big 14/0 treble hook in him. Now it's mostly under control, gun go bang.

We pulled the gator into the boat and taped him up. While I am getting stuff organized, the gator lunges into the floor with all parts moving except for mouth. I leaped over the gator, grabbed it by the tail, pulled it back onto the deck. My friend grabs a leg and we hang the head over the rail. One more pop to the head and let it drain for a few minutes.

So when my cousin caught 3 hogs in a bear cage once, this

Sep 13, 2021, 12:01 PM

dood came by to get the meat. Shot hog in head with 22 (rifle - probably not a mag tho). Just sat there pist for a while, then took another 2 shots to the head and finally gave out like 30 minutes later.

I wouldn't want to be doing that with a gator in a boat. Why not use like a .45?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If you don't hit it right it doesn't matter what you use

Sep 13, 2021, 12:10 PM

We have used a 45, 38, 44, and 357

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Siccccccckkkkkkkkkk dude I'm so jealous.

Sep 13, 2021, 12:11 PM

Process it yourself or take it to Cordrays? We chased around and shot a few marsh hens yesterday while the early season was in, was sporty but nothing like tagging a gator.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This was our 9th, usually they get processed

Sep 13, 2021, 12:29 PM

in my garage, but my buddy volunteered to do it all at his place so we didn't have to while being exhausted.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Gotta love hunting season.

Sep 13, 2021, 12:25 PM

I snagged a 115 pound methogator last night.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Did it have large talons?***

Sep 13, 2021, 12:26 PM

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It had two steak knives.

Sep 13, 2021, 12:46 PM

Those can inflict some damage if you're not careful.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As far as preserving the hide,

Sep 13, 2021, 12:32 PM

I would think you would do it the other way around and split the belly.

Probably more difficult, but I would think the hide would be more desirable that way.

Yes, no?

Teach me oh master.

S??? ????? ???? ??? ??????? ?????? ???? ??? ??????,
S??? ????? ?? ?? ???????? ???? ? ??????? ??? ????? ?????..

First you chop it's #### off. Then using a 18" serrated

Sep 13, 2021, 12:36 PM

knife, stick the knife where his #### used to be. Keep pushing til it comes out his sin hole. Now just work your way bottom to top.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If it were being kept intact, yes. This one isn't.

Sep 13, 2021, 12:37 PM [ in reply to As far as preserving the hide, ]

It's so much work to

1) kill an alligator
2) drive 4 hours home starting at 2 am
3) process the meat

We are usually too exhausted to care about the hide. This is the first one that has been skinned and I think he's just giving some to a friend to see what he can do with it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yo, you root through stomach contents?

Sep 13, 2021, 2:38 PM

I wonder what would be found.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope

Sep 13, 2021, 2:40 PM

Prolly turtles, fish, birds

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Missed opportunity.

Sep 13, 2021, 2:43 PM

Man I'd bet you would be surprised at what's in there. Let's crack her open and post the contents next time, por favor.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Next time...

Sep 13, 2021, 2:51 PM

You come on down here to Belton, I'll have some meat for ya and we'll inspect the insides.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Is the meat actually good?

Sep 13, 2021, 2:53 PM

Or just novel?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And what part is actually good? Seems like there'd be a lot

Sep 13, 2021, 2:54 PM

of tough meat on a reptile.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh, you thought I meant gator meat

Sep 13, 2021, 2:57 PM [ in reply to Is the meat actually good? ]

Well, it's not that good....no. I mean if you prepare it like CharlestonTiger15 it may be good. Mostly we just cut it into nuggets, fry it, and dip it in something tasty.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

maybe you should have.....
