My thoughts on ACC presidents meeting with Notre Dame:

Jul 8, 2012, 10:55 PM

If it is about ND joining the ACC, it better mean all sports, including football. Anything but all sports should be a non-starter. It would be just like the leach that Notre Dame is to come and free-load off of our Orange Bowl agreement to up its value in exchange for its olympic sports.

In other words, a deal that benefits Notre Dame and nobody else. Be careful here or all 14 ACC teams could find themselves competing with Notre Dame for the Orange Bowl spot while Notre Dame doesn't even become a football member.

Now if it is about all sports membership, bring them on. The ACC would be suddenly very rich and stable.

THis whole thing, however could simply be about Notre Dames qualifications for the at-large spot in the Orange Bowl. It that is the case, their requirements should be of a high standard.

Hopefully the ACC will a scheduling agreement to go along

Jul 8, 2012, 11:21 PM

Allowing them access. Maybe 4 to 6 games a year. We're stupid if we don't

tell them to join the acc if they want a chance at O. B.***

They already play four a year as it is. No way ND is going

to give up its football independence, though, not for the ACC as it is today. With more conferences looking at nine game schedules ND could struggle with filling a few dates on its schedule in the years ahead, so strengthening a relationship with the ACC would certainly be to their benefit. Just hope we don't tie our hands too much in putting together a deal with them on the bowl and scheduling.

Could also see a neutral site arrangement with an ACC

member somewhere on the east coast. That could help ease some of the upcoming OOC / home game issue that some programs will face with the 9th conference game.

ND IS Going To Join The ACC.....

Jul 8, 2012, 11:45 PM

the question is then, who is going to be the "other" team that joins with them? Logic says UConn, personally I would love to see UGA or SCAR join with them, then again, monkeys might fly out of my butt also.....
