My ideal BIG XII scenario:
May 16, 2012, 11:01 AM
|
|
Big XII East
Clemson Florida St Georgia Tech Virginia Tech West Virginia Kansas Kansas St
Big XII West
Baylor Iowa St Oklahoma Oklahoma St Texas Texas Tech TCU
It would be a toss-up as to where Iowa St, Kansas, Kansas St would land in divisions... but that's just my ideal scenario.
That's a powerhouse conference right there. Crazy good.

That does look good. It would money a boatload of TV money for Clemson, and kill the football programs left behind in the ACC. Clemson would increase its recruiting in the state of North Carolina with the "Big 4" there left in a ruined conference with no revenue for facilities or coaching staffs.

good luck prying VT out of the ACC without UVA

After all the kicking and screaming UVA had to do to get VT into the ACC I can't fathom VT being able to walk away leaving UVA to sink with the ACC.

That might change if there was no option left

If 3 of the football playing schools were to bolt and the ACC implode, VT would tied to a boat anchor.
If it came down NCSU or VT gettting out while the getting is good, would the Va politicians force VT to sit beside UVA on the crashing plane?

I don't get this GT love affair (plus a 4 yr probation)

They bring nothing. Poor fan following. Poor viewing audience/ratings. Hasn't had a Top 50 football signing class in how many years? Basketball program has been in the toilet for over a decade. Baseball is worse than its ever been.
Other than an hr 1/2 drive for CU fans, why would any Clemson fan wish to pick them up by the boot straps? Many of them can't stand Clemson. The Hellw ith GT.

And a lot like Clemson in many ways in terms of school size and academic focus.
Of course, GT forgot to include any wimmins worth looking at, but you cant bat 1.000%

Based on your post alone I suddenly have the feeling the Big XII will probably stick with expanding to 12, for no other reason than Kansas and KSU will probably raise all kinds of #### for being the only 2 Midwest teams in an Eastern division. Talk about your travel costs suddenly skyrocketing.

Just change out the KU and KSU and insert Baylor and TCU, and you have the right idea
