Watching a young team go through some growing pains.
Defensively:
- Obviously, we miss the leadership of Trotter and the backend experience of Nate and Mukuba. - However, the defense is doing enough to keep us in the game. Lewis is getting picked on and UK has a speedy WR giving us fits. - Hopefully Wes dials up the blitz more in the 2nd half because Leary is killing us when he has time but looks pedestrian when we get pressure. - Game should be 10-7 good guys right now if the UK WR is called for pancaking a DB for a big catch.
Offensively:
- OL is a mishmash of looking good and absolutely whipped at times. - Roll out CK2...Do it more in the 2nd half GR. CK2 sitting in the pocket just ain't it right now when the pocket is collapsing or pressure is getting to him. - CK2 has actually done a decent job of taking care of the ball. No boneheaded passes that were almost picked off. - That said, CK has been slow to react though and it's cost us some drives/momentum. Some of the criticism on the board is warranted. - RBs are doing just fine. I hope we can continue to go to the well with them in the 2nd half but, again, OL play is inconsistent at best.
Overall: - 1 more half of Clemson football for 2023. - Hope the good guys can pull it out to carry some momentum into 2024 🤞
