The Big 12 Needs to be "Punished" By Being Left Out

Dec 7, 2014, 7:24 AM

They tried to get real "cute" with not moving to a 12 team league in a money grab to not split so much money....

They also got cute with this 9 game rotation and then jammed that motto of "One True Conference Champion" down the rest of the nation's throat because their decision does not allow a conference title game....

Because they don't have a conference title game, they don't have the same level of "risk" at the end of the year that the other leagues do and should not be rewarded.

Also, the stunt that the Big 12 Commissioner pulled by having CO-Champs should be considered negatively by the committee.

In Short, Alabama, Oregon, FSU and Ohio State should go to the playoffs and the Big 12's co-champs should not.

Now ultimately, we need an 8 game playoff because they all should have a shot, but I am basing my opinion on this current formula.

everyone except fsu has a loss. tcu lost to baylor, the osu

Dec 7, 2014, 7:30 AM

lost to virginia tech. you tell me why osu should get the bid . a bad loss has to count as much , if not more, than a good win.

I'm just glad I'm not on the committee.

very true. no matter the direction they go, there is going

to be two groups (out of the 3 teams in question) of p.o.'d fans. heck, player's get hate mail and worse, just for having a bad game. i can only imagine what the people on the committee are going to receive from the masses.

When OSU Lost to Va Tech, They were breaking in a new QB

Dec 7, 2014, 7:42 AM [ in reply to everyone except fsu has a loss. tcu lost to baylor, the osu ]

Braxton Miller was out and they were having to essentially do a reset...

Also, OSU just dismantled the #13 team in the Nation 59-0 in the league conference title game with a 3rd string QB which tells me they have a system in place that is so good it is plug n play...

Oh yeah..the Big 12 doesn't have a conference title game....

I have already mentioned the Big 12's situation and I trust I should not have to cover that again.

I am saying right now OSU

A not great win counts as worse than a loss.
Ask FSU!!

GO TIGERS!!

With all due respect, SGT -

It's because of how long ago in the season OSU lost.

That - coupled with the narrative of 'breaking in new QB (JT Barrett at that time) and 4 new OL in their first FBS game of the season' - will be the breaking point.

Big 12 out - OSU in.

Because of the human nature of the selection process, these factors will weigh heavily. The human element will introduce 'who is playing the best right now'...more so than 'what is the cumulative body of work - wins and losses being equal'.

That - and I think what trumps all is the money situation too. Blue bloods....

TCU and Baylor ain't one of 'em.

that is why, with the limited number of games in cfb, every

game counts. i am not saying anyone is wrong (as osu may very well make the cfp) i am just giving my reason's that, if i were on the committee, i would go with tcu over osu. the big-12 is,imo, a tougher conf. than the big-10, i.e. tcu beat 4 ranked teams, osu only 3. i also just can't get the loss to va.tech outta my head, i mean 6-6,5th place in the coastal, va.tech.i will agree that osu is playing some good football right now, but recent history also shows us that when they step out of conference, against a quality opponent, they usually don't fare to well.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Totally agree...

Dec 7, 2014, 8:16 AM

I think the Big 12 > Big 10.

Just thinking that committee is definitely getting pressure to set up the games in such a way that TV viewership is maximized. Sad...

And is a reason this whole thing should be expanded to 8 teams - at the very least.

Maybe one day!

I agree about the title game. They should move back into

two new states Colorado and Utah (PAC states) and add Colorado State and either BYU/Utah State for more television revenue. Then hold a championship game.

Colorado was in the Big 12 but left because of Texas

Dec 7, 2014, 8:23 AM

BYU desperately wants in a Power 5 conference but I don't think they offer much in recruiting or TV...

I think WVU is on an Island and the Big 12 should consider looking East to give WVU a closer game...I was thinking of maybe Cincinnati to give the Big 12 a footprint in Ohio and maybe Central Florida as a footprint in that prime recruiting state.

Don't be surprised if "The Chad" leads SMU into the Big 12 .....I am sure that is a strategy that is coveted...

revenue and less of a money split for the other schools. Will never happen.

unless they are left out of the playoffs...

if that happens anything goes

My guess will be TCU and Baylor will whine and cry for

Dec 7, 2014, 8:57 AM

a while until Big Daddy Texas tells them to shut up. LOL The Longhorns have their money coming in regardless of what happens in this playoff.

You are right. No risk no reward. OS should jump TCU.

In all fairness though the B12 made the ten team no CG
