He took a pretty good shot to the chest. I thought right from the start that might be the problem.

We have been thinking the same thing. Kind of glad they didn’t show him when they were showing the players. Obviously not an intentional or malicious hit, but anyone who has ever played a sport knows if someone gets hurt and you are involved it is hard.

It was a normal football play

I think he died. Heavy

Technically he did if they were doing chest compressions.

The fact that we haven’t heard “he was talking and moving” by now isn’t a good sign.

Uggggh! Awful. I know Tee is feeling terrible right now although it was a freak accident.

First thought was a massive aortic rupture. He dropped like a rock. Sadly I think he died that moment.

I had walked out of the room. I tried to replay it but after he tackled Higgins and he did get a shoulder to his chest but it was at an angle. He got up immediately but reached up to his face mask and the picture stops. Next thing shown was a wide angle of all the players on the field around him. Prayers for Hamlin and his family.

As an EMT, I wonder

Jan 2, 2023, 9:48 PM

Why did they do CPR for 9 minutes without defibrillating him. Or maybe they did and just didn't get report. But 9 minutes is a very long time to go under CPR. Please pray hard for this young man.

Correct me if I am wrong

Jan 2, 2023, 9:56 PM

But if there's no fibrillation, they do CPR only. The AED will say to continue CPR and no shock will be applied.
