My completely objective, unbiased opinion of both ...

... hits out of bounds.
Completely different situations.
1. Clemson player was running to the sideline. Cuse player was chasing. Cuse player made initial contact with Clemson player AFTER he was out of bounds. Clear case of late hit.
2. Cuse player was running to the sideline. Clemson player made initial contact when runner was in bounds. Clemson player maintained contact until Cuse player was out of bounds. Clemson player backed off. He didn't pound the guy. He didn't wrap him up and tackle him. I'm not sure he even pushed the guy, but if he did it was a slight push. I saw the Cuse player ease up and the Clemson player remove his hands from the Cuse player. Clearly not a penalty.
Refs are taught to look for when initial contact was made. That is the major factor in throwing, or not throwing, the flag.
There you go. You can now tell all your acquaintances who are fans of another school than an objective, unbiased look by an FSU fan (who should be cheering for Cuse in this game) explained - very objectively and very rationally why Cuse was penalized and Clemson wasn't.

Another troll try, and another troll fail.
I bet you already had a long diatribe typed up when it was 21-7, and you were gleeful looking forward to a loss so you could try and drag the football program down the sinking ship with basketball, huh, Mrs B?
You're transparent.. comically so.

I think that I’ll just tell them that whining about the refs is for losers.
If you like football, then you take the calls as part of the game. There are controversial calls a dozen times a game. It just happens.
I haven’t seen it mentioned, but early on we failed to convert on a 4th down play. I thought we got hosed on the spot and we left points on the field because of it. I haven’t seen any talk about this call but it was definitely a big call that went Cuse’s way. It happens all the time and just comes with the game.

It was obvious live that he stretched the ball out before being down. It was definitely obvious when you saw the replay and could see he was on top of bodies when he stretched it. So you would think it was even more obvious in the micro analysis the replay refs should've seen.
So how the heck did they review and still get it wrong? Reeks of shenanigans. Sorry if that offends some folks.

Right in the middle of the field, flushing the QB, right when you would expect a hold. And it was a beaut.

Agree, 100%. We got a good call on a call on the 2nd and 1 to Ngata (ball hit the turf, no review). We didn't get calls on offensive holding for a large part of the game. All in all, a wash. We won.

Doesn’t matter. They got away with holding just like your Noles did ALL GAME LONG. They could have called the late hit. But they didn’t. Syracuse had 4 turnovers and a scoop and score gifted to them and still couldn’t win. It’s really all on them for blowing a chance that was there for them to win.

Yes that game would have been a blow out had DJ been himself. He seemed to temporarily lose his mind out of the blue and that kept Syracuse in and up. Clemson should have won the game 31-38 to 14. But these games happen to all teams every year. Glad Clemson wins anyway.

I’d also add that the Cuse player dipped his head to make contact (not heavy) to Cades head. As much as the refs are looking for head to head contact I think that also contributed to the flag.

A 3rd party objective opinion.
He says we wouldnt have won if not for getting calls. Is that not crazy delusional? Like most coots, @Bonefish struggles with reality, especially when it comes to his mighty big brother.

Great post Brett!
Just forgot about Tenn.
What do you think are the keys to FSU game next week of breaking out of the losing streak?
Also, bet your excited for FSU in basketball? I think they are going to be back to a normal Leonard Hamilton coached team with Mills and Clevland running the show at guard and getting some injured guys back and adding a couple of big studs down low. I think they will finish in the top 4 of the ACC and won't be surprised if they finish 1st. Coach Hamilton says this is the type of team he has had when they won the ACC a couple of times. Love the slogan they have - New Blood...

I agree with that assignment. I couldn’t believe the commentators kept saying it was the same. There was no evidence he pushed him out of bounds. I so no centrifugal push at the end. It looked more like the QB trying to draw a flag.

understand it as far as a receiver who has to stay focused on the ball...However, a defensive player in pursuit of a runner is not defenseless. He CAN look around and see what is happening. How many of you when you played defense, when you were on kickoff coverag or punt coverage were told by your coaches,"Keep your head on a swivel!!"?

One of the devils, I mean commentators job is to create controversy and confusion. Many, if not most people in the media whether news, sports, movies, TV, crime, weather, etc.... do this. If they have to overlook slight details or facts so be it. The story takes priority in importance than any thing else. Including the truth.

The Syracuse QB was still trying to throw the ball as he was going out of bounds.
The Clemson QB was already out of bounds when hit and continued to be pushed hard.
