Moving to greater Greenville area
Mar 6, 2014, 10:10 PM

Hello tigers,
I am thinking of taking a job in downtown Greenville. And moving from Indianapolis. My wife and I are somewhat familiar with the area as we always stop at the Greenville Costco exit on our way to Edisto beach twice a year. We need help with housing. Our budget is probably 400k. We have three children under three, and we would prefer new construction. Any recommendations of new housing developments in the area that would meet this criteria. We would want good schooling, and something under a half hour one way commute to downtown Greenville. Also house will probably need to be in the 3000 sq ft range plus basement due to family size and possible expansion.
Thanks,
I thought there would probably be quite a few people on here from the area. Due to vacationing in sc multiple times a year growing up, Clemson has always been my 2nd team behind Purdue.

Yes, I should have clarified,I assume for new construction, I would have to love in a suburb. No more than a half hour one way commute is the main thing. I currently live in Carmel, a suburb of Indianapolis, about a half hour from downtown indianapolis.

York, SC....the mecca of meth and muslim culture

I'll sell you my house for 200k, save you a good little bit. When should I break the contract with the current buyers? I'll call them as soon as I receive your $10,000 deposit for saving the house. You are going to absolutely love the local Wal-Marts. York even built a new McDonalds about 4 years ago. TOP OF THE LINE WITH TWO (YES I SAID TWO) MOTHERFVCKING DRIVE-THROUGHS.

Greer - Buena Vista Elementary is top 3 in GVL Co.

Housing Starts have picked back up since the collapse of the housing mkt. I live in that area. I'm 1 mile (as a crow flies) from GSP. That makes travel easy. You'll have to contact a realtor about your housing needs.
Alternatives: Simpsonville has some new housing developments. Oakview Elementary is another good school, but the traffic pattern doesn't fit your need to get to downtown quickly. From Simpsonville you will be coming into downtown on I-385 North along with 150,000 other people every morning.

Sorry but I think you are way off on housing costs here.

400K won't get you much at all, but luckily I am willing to help. I have an extra bedroom and bathroom I can rent out to you and your family for just $50K per month. Of course the down payment is the standard 6 month's rent. Let me know if you are interested and I will send over the DNA collection team for a background check.

There is a sweet sweet area of Greenville called
Mar 7, 2014, 9:09 AM

Nickletown. I would recommend moving there.
For your budget you could probably buy like 8 houses and own your own block.
Great proximity to meth, crack, and hookers. Convenient to downtown and to several convenience stores.
UTOPIA!

Sounds perfect for you, your rent will only be about $500/month. In no time, I feel you would be able to pay cash for a doublewide to place on a .17 acre lot. Tmale me for more info.

Traffic is a breeze and don't believe what they say about the Shoppes at Gridlock.
Sirrusly, I use to live in Stonehaven in Simpsonville and loved it. Wish I was still there...
