Most painful part of re-watching the championship game

Jul 14, 2016, 10:54 AM

Re-watching the Alabama game, I keep feeling a punch to the gut on Watson's interception.

If Deshaun sees the safety coming over and puts just a little more loft on that ball, Ray-Ray (who had totally burned the corner) makes the catch and doesn't stop running till the band is playing "Tiger Rag."

If we go up 21-7 at that point, I think the floodgates open.

True--Uncle MO would have been celebrating Natty

Jul 14, 2016, 11:02 AM

The 2 not so special team NON-PLAYS might not have been so devastating.

i concur with interception & changed momentum drastically

And perked Bama up, in that they knew then that:

1. DW4 was going to drill them if they didn't get it going..

2. DW4 was human & made mistakes..

And that mistake got their entire Team & Coaching Staff primed to kick it uP another (needed) notch.

The pass interference that was not called in the 3rd qtr in

Jul 14, 2016, 11:35 AM

the end zone. DB hacked Scott's arms before the ball arrived, no brainer PI call, refs were blind, even Herbstreit was saying great coverage on the play....idiot. That was a sure 6 pts or if the penalty called, another set of downs.

Wasnt there also an "INT" by one of Bama's big guys

Jul 14, 2016, 11:41 AM

Where the replay showed it bounced under him on the ground and the official in booth said the initial call would be reversed - but it wasn't? If I remember correctly a few plays later Henry took it to the house.
Of course I could be mixing that play up with another came as I have not yet managed to drink enough in one sitting to be able to watch the replay.

So, we was Robbed!

Or it maybe felt more like mugged & sat on by a huge & talented Red Elephant! LOL.

I believe you're thinking of the Oklahoma semifinal game

Jul 14, 2016, 11:53 AM [ in reply to Wasnt there also an "INT" by one of Bama's big guys ]

There was an interception of that variety against OU.

Pretty sure DW4 only threw one pick in the natty.

Wait. I was thinking of the ACC championship game

Jul 14, 2016, 3:07 PM

Is this the INT you were remembering?

you're right - that was it

Jul 14, 2016, 3:19 PM

I haven't researched the championship game and probably never will.

That said, I think losing Mac was the single biggest turning point. There are several do overs that could have resulted in a different outcome but if I had to pick one thing it was losing Mac.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed

Jul 14, 2016, 4:16 PM

Mac plays, win win. No ifs ands or buts

Anywho, it is what it is

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Yep , one of the few offensive mistakes on the night .
Still , we had many opportunities to win , just didn't get it done. No shame here , just get back and win it the next go around.

I still say the turning point was the first series of the 4th quarter. We had just stopped them on a 3rd and short and forced a punt. I believe we went 3 and out. If we would have put points up it would have put a ton of pressure on them.

The play of our special teams and lack thereof secondary busted coverages. The interception is not as bad because we had more than enough time to recover.
