Morris and the O Line this Camp

Aug 28, 2012, 11:09 AM

Am I the only one that has an overwhelming feeling that Morris and Caldwell have taken a much different approach with the O Line this season? It smells so much of Basic Training, break them down, stress them out, make them question themselves and at the end build them back up.

Especially the confidence now that camp is over and it's opponent week. The tone has changed drastically, with words like "extrememly confident", "more athletic", "more talented".

One thing to also look at is coaching. A lot of those guys on the o-line last year were Brad Scott's players. They had been coached by Scott for 3-4 years so most of those players probably had a little bit of trouble adjusting to Coach Caldwell's schemes. I'm sure they're taking the same approach they did last year. When a player is used to be coached a certain way for several years it's hard for them to adjust. Especially at a position like on the offensive line where there's a lot of technique involved. Just my 2 cents. Either way I think the offensive line will be better then last years.

Last year had a bunch of older players that had a hard time adjusting to Caldwell's teachings. He's now had a bunch of young and more talented players to mold. I feel very good about the OL under Caldwell. I like the new blocking scheme as well. You have a certain player to block. either get it done or sit on the bench.

I agree with your points, I'm sure their approach is the same with respect to teaching technique, drills, etc.

My point was regarding what has seemed to me like quite a classic case of sports psychology.

They were all confident & respected Awburn in the interviews

I'm liking it...

I hope so..

The OLine was the weakest part of the team last season. We gave up 17 sacks in 4 losses.
