Pretty cool for Brownell to return with his Clemson team. UNCW, which he coached to two NCAA appearances, one of which drew raves from Bob Knight for its offensive execution, really squeezed him out for no reason ever given. He reportedly was not asking that much in salary negotiations but they had a new AD and a new chancellor trying to make their mark. They did. He finally gave up and left for Wright State, which I believe he took to the NCAA once, while Wilmington hired a coach who after a good year with Brownell's players, hit the skids and began losing 20 games every year. Both that coach and the AD lost their jobs as a result, the coach in mid-season. Needless to say things worked out for the Brownells. I think I read that her parents now live in Wilmington. But good for him and Clemson to go over there. For those of you going, it is a 5,200 seat arena.
