Lowes has a Pit Boss for $400 but it doesn't have those features. Are they worth $200 or so for the next step up?

I can set my temps on the grill and check my temps on my meat via phone app. Yeehaw!
But if you get a good thermometer you can check meat temps, which to me is the most important - I rarely change the grill temps during a cook.

but here's my opinion anyway. I think if the pellet grill works like it's supposed to, and you make sure it has sufficient fuel before you leave the house for any period of time while cooking, it shouldn't need wi-fi/bluetooth. With the BGE, you kind of do need it because it can gain and lose temp at weird times and you can have to control it manually anyway, so there is something you can do about it if you get an alert.

If you already have a meat thermometer that also shows ambient temp in the smoker, I think spending that much more to have it built in your smoker is just duplicating.
My old CookShack does a good job of holding temp and I can tell if something weird (like a rare stuck auger due to an oversized pellet) has happened pretty quick with a 2 probe set up.

know that I could enjoy being on a boat knowing BBQ is at risk and there is a fire nobody is watching. I don't know that I'd use the Pitt Boss for a brisket either.

But my wifi router is on the other side of the house, so it’s pretty spotty on the deck. So I solve my connection issue by walking outside every half hour or so once it starts getting close to should be done time.
Cool feature, but I don’t really use it and wouldn’t chase after it.

While we never show up to stuff empty handed, we end up going to parties and spending the same $50+ as we would going out to eat. I don't want to invite people over then expect them to bring enough of a side item for 20 people. I end up making sure at least the protein and 2 sides are covered. It gets expensive. I'm one more giant raise away from being able to achieve my dream of people knowing the football games are going to be on at my house and there will be BBQ so they can just come on over.

He’s an early riser during football season and gets it fired up. I get a call around 11am and the conversation goes “Why don’t you pick up some beer (or bourbon) and stop by?” Seems like a fair arrangement…

but it really depends on your lifestyle and what you'll be cooking.
The app allows you to monitor the cook without physically being at the smoker. This can be handy when you hit the "stall" and you want to watch when the meat temp starts to rise again to estimate the finish time.
Also, for certain types of cooks, the app can change the set temp based on the meat temp or based on time. Say you want to smoke at 150F for 2 hrs and then increase the temp to 225F and so on.
What I use it most for is being able to turn down the temp once the meat temp reaches a certain point. This is especially helpful for long cooks or if you have to run out close to when the cook is down. For example, you can set it to cook brisket until internal temp is 195F and then back the cook set temp down to 125F, for example, to keep it warm if you happen to be away.

this is some cheatin'-ass shit and all of you should be ashamed of your good nights of sleep and leisure time during cooks.

and other such things that take next to no time. The Dyna-Glo will still be used for butts, brisket, pork loin and messy stuff. Do I really want to be cleaning up exploded jalapeño poppers from the pellet grill. It pretty easy with the offset. Stuff just falls to the floor like some may placentas.

basic needs. However it is true that one of those will do the job. Not the job I'm looking to get down, but BBQ can be made. But only if you put all the coals on one side then the meat on the opposite side.
