Mid week games we dont use our best pitchers

Clemson focuses on weekend series and winning those games. There not going to use there best pitching In those games. Where as coastal or other teams Clemson plays midweek may throw a weekend starter against a team like Clemson because beating a ranked Clemson team helps them more then us. Clemson is fine and on track to win 42-44 games in the regular season.

I hear what you’re saying and sort of agree. Although I would add that even in a mid-week game it’s probably best to hit the ball more than you hit the other team with the ball. But what do I know ….

Yeah, I’m not as concerned about the pitching, the only pitchers who pitched who weren’t freshmen were Samol (who is still rehabbing his injury) and Joe Allen. We do need to make some lineup changes, you can’t have your DH and cleanup hitter hitting .200

Tough taking Priest out of the lineup though because he can hit the ball about 2 towns over if he connects. It reminds me of Grice as a sophomore. He’s not hitting at a high clip but he has so much pop that can change any game and it’s hard to take that out of the lineup.

I definitely see the similarities there. What got Caden going was having to sit early in his junior year and then him pitching, because he was cold to start 2023 as well. I was saying to have Priest sit this weekend, but let him play midweek games lower in the order to see if he can hit himself out of it

You’re exactly right. Giving him something else to think about/do once every three days seemed to help his hitting.
I don’t think it can be understated how different DHing is that playing both ways (hitting and playing the field, I mean.) Like not playing the field completely throws some guys off. It changes the rhythm and some guys just get completely in their head when they can’t go play defense every inning. Maybe Priest is one of those guys. The issue is that Gaffney is a stud on defense at first and I wouldn’t take him off the field defensively for Priest either.

Maybe try flipping their positions in future midweek games, that way you do get Priest playing first and see if that helps him, while still having Gaffney play first during weekend series

We definitely have some good hitting. Listi, Purify, Cam, Gaffney, and McLaddie have all been hitting the ball well. Jarrell has been making some solid contact with the ball recently with some bad luck (the robbed homerun Saturday and the line out that was dropped today). We definitely need to get Paino going

Clemgalalways,The Pitchers and Defense just don't need to keep up all this getting behind so much,it just puts that much more more pressure on the hitters on the team and even though we have shown a knack for coming back,we just don't need to have to count on that all of the rest of the season long because its gonna spell disaster when it comes postseason time you can bet on that

Yeah, and I consider Samol a freshman because of that injury. Not quite as ready as I was hoping. Seems like he's either missing on his pitches or nerves when he puts runners on. Limited sample. We'd have been ok had we given up two solos. What's sad, coming into tonight, we were tied for 110th in hr hit this year with coastal.
But this weekend is our halfway reg season. Coach said b4 season that A. We had power, and B. We had 15 that deserved to be in the line-up. Heck, I haven't seen 9. We make a lot of weak contact... and other than Cam, we don't appear to have the ability to go oppo with the pitch. Not sure why we don't think we can hit a ball off the plate.
Hope we get it figured out. Being a team BA that's 103 your pitching better be off the charts good. We haven't exactly played good competition.

No clutch hitting regardless of the day of the week. Just looking for at runners left on base.

The mid week Pitchers for the Tigers hopefully get better as the season goes on because they will be needed that is for sure starting in the ACC Tournament as well as into the NCAA Regional and so on if they advance beyond that.
