Men's Soccer has a chance

To quote a famous movie, "in case you missed it, and by judging last night's attendance, most of you did"---

Men's Soccer has an opportunity to go the same route as football following last night's complete embarrassment, losing to Queens College who nabbed their first ever win over a ranked team - in their third year of play in Div I ... VCU, who got their win over the highest ranked opponent, showed the way --- pack the back and limit our offense ... anyone who can get a lead, ie Queen's last night, will have an opportunity to shut it down. League play starts Friday with CAL and over next two weeks we play #1 Wake and #2 NC State as well as Duke ... need a couple of wins.

Otherwise ... from ranked #2 to #14 to unranked in two weeks ... UGH!!!

C'mon boys ... turn it around!!!

This can happen when you import half your team from overseas each year.

How are you gonna blame international players?

We’ve done the same thing for the last 6-7 years. And we have two national titles as well as other string seasons using that formula.

The key is getting the right ones. So far this year I haven’t noticed any of the newcomers really standing out, except maybe Stephenson in his absence.

Weve already played two league games

Beat Pitt 3-2 and tied SMU 1-1.

But VCU and Queens were both bad losses. sleepy crowds didn’t help. But the issue was not connectivity to the midfield. Noonan yelled at his back line many times after they played a lot of wasted balls all game.

We’ve been unable to play the Icelandic duo Magnusson and Stephenson at the same time since the Pitt win and I think that’s really hurting the overall structure of the formation.

Gyan has tried hard in the losses and looked like the one trying to save the game.

Yoshisawa has been a ghost the last 3 games, making no impact and he’s supposed to be on of our more dangerous players. He needs to get more involved.

Also haven't been impressed with new plauer Santuari. He has lost the ball a lot and been out of position frequently.

The only difference is that it’s soccer so only about 100 people care.

Men's soccer is by far our schools most successful sport. While people may 'care' a little more about baseball, it's success blows it out of the water.

Count me in the 100. One sport in the very best soccer conference in the nation that we excel in most years. Love it! GO TIGERS!

Last 2 losses are mind blowing.
