That said, glad the AD is working on contingencies....as the repurcussions will be difficult enough.

DO THE GLOOM AND DOOMERS REALIZE THIS BS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR LESS THAN A MONTH. THAT IS LESS THAN 30 DAYS FOR YOU PEOPLE IN RIOLINDA. WE WERE ABOUT TO PLAY FSU IN BASKETBALL AND WAKE IN BASEBALL ON MARCH 13 FOR GODS SAKE. IT SEEMS LIKE AN ETERNITY BUT REALLY IT IS NOT. A LOT OF PROJECTIONS HAVE THINGS GETTING MUCH BETTER IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. YET THE GLOOM AND DOOMERS SEEM TO KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN 4 MONTHS FROM NOW. WHERE HAVE WE GOTTEN TO IN THIS COUNTRY. A BUNCH OF PANTY WASTERS CURLED UP IN THE CORNER WAITING FOR THE END OF TIME. THIS BUG IS A BAD THING NO DOUBT BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN OUR HISTORY WE HAVE SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING IN FEAR. MAYBE GO BACK AND CHECK ALL THE OTHER PANDEMICS WE SOMEHOW MADE IT THROUGH WITHOUT MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF LIVES BEING RUINED.

WHY ARE YOU TYPING IN ALL CAPS? ARE YOU WORKING FROM CUBA, HAVING TO USE AN OLD TELETYPE TO CONVERSE WITH US? NORMALLY WHEN PEOPLE TYPE IN ALL CAPS, OTHER PEOPLE ASSUME, USUALLY RIGHTLY, THAT THE ALL CAPPER IS AN OLD GUY LIVING IN A HOUSE FILLED WITH AMMUNITION ROUNDS, UNSECURED WEAPONS, AND MAGAZINES OF UNDERAGED GIRLS. IF THIS IS NOT YOU, TURN THE FREAKIN CAPS LOCK OFF.

I doubt that anything we the fan base has to say will make any difference at all, one way or the other, I really don't!!!

I'm glad they're taking this approach; we definitely don't want the fit to hit the shan without some mitigation measures at the ready.

SO, I GUESS SOME OF YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH THE ENTIRE ECONOMY BEING IN THE SH!TTER. THERE ARE MANY OTHER WAYS THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED. THERE ARE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT DIE EVERY DAY. WE HAVE NEVER SHUT DOWN OUR COUNTRY FOR ANY OF THEM BEFORE. AND YET SOMEHOW WE SURVIVED.

Ahhh yes, the "it's not even as bad as the flu" guy...

...have the numbers for February and March? Flu v Covid?
Care to show any 2 month period the flu had a rate of increase in deaths like covid has the past 2 months?
Do you not think it would have been worse without shutdowns the past month?

He asked you about rates of increase of deaths, not static numbers.
If you think it's no worse than the flu then you're a fool.
Also, take into account that we haven't been through a full "season" or year of it yet, so even if static numbers WERE relevant, we only have a couple months worth of data for THAT.

Amen deroberts! I guess I’ll be the only one responding positively to your post! First of all, it’s crazy to think we wouldn’t have football in the fall and second, it would be insane if we didn’t! I too am tired of the gloom and doom and pessimism and panic and hysteria and so on. As every day goes on I get more and more frustrated seeing all the small businesses closed and wonder why are we doing this!? Not saying this isn’t serious, but we’ve had worse before! We need to get out of our houses, get outside and back to work, safely, and build up our immune systems!!!!

The SI article says it all.
Apr 8, 2020, 3:07 PM
|
|
And as I have maintained from the beginning, a shortened season with no bowls or playoffs and limited fans in the stands would be the best, most likely option.
Yes, I hope for the virus to die out and be a non-issue starting tomorrow, for school to start as usual in the fall, and for DV to be packed, but I am looking at most likely scenarios, not hopes and dreams.

A couple of us may have hopes and dreams, but you’re seeing despair and nightmares!! And if you’ve been saying that since the beginning then I’d hate to be in your house the last month! BE POSITIVE!!

it's not an unusual event for professors to blow off classes or shut down classes after 15 mins. So do we need the high numbers of profs who don't manage to show up to class anyway?
