Agreed. Folks, if you havent paid much attention to LSU this season, you might want to go watch some film. This is the quickest Defense that we will have seen all year. They are extrememly physical and very well put together. Their LBs can read off the blocks very well and are very tremendous in coverage. Their secondary plays very physical and very seldom will they be out of position to give up that big play. I key in on the defense because at any given time they can be a one demensional football team. This is a very sound and physical defense that does not make a whole lot of mistakes. I am afraid we have bitten off a little more than we can chew on this one. When its all said and done, its going to be "fire the strength and conditioning coach because our players are too small" and "Clemson being Clemson". Go Tigers!

No its plenty for the average football team at the collegiate level. Problem is, we cannot match up to them physically. Let me simplify it for you; Take Clowney for instance. You remember how he literally took over the USC and Clemson game this year? LSU has 6-7 people on the defensive side of the ball that can be that dominant at any given time.

No I do not remember that at all! Clemson lead that game longer than Carolina did. Clowney was not a factor until the end. Now if you want to say the carolina o line dominated that would be more accurate but not entirely true. What I saw was 2 teams evenly matched and the ball and a few calls went to SC. They won 4 in a row give them credit. That does not mean that they were totally dominant. Clemson is not and should not be scared of LSU! By the way I smell a coot!

I just don't think our guys are developed to the level LSU's guys are. There are distint differences that play in their favor; coaching being one of them. Have you ever seen Les Miles get his team pumped up before the game? He delivers a message of anger and ferocity with an intensity I can't ever see our coach doing.

Here are the facts: Decommits are recommiting. Barn burner practices. Every school in the contiguous US after coach Morris but he stays. Coach Venables has been living in the mountains for two weeks eating chipmunks and roots while drawing up the most beautiful defense ever seen by any of our eyes.
I guess you could say things are about to get real in the ATL.

I remember last year's Orange bowl all too well, the recent Usuc game and more comparably when we played Alabama in the Dome with CJ, Jacoby Ford, James Davis and others and came away with NO offense because the Bama defense smothered us. We had 0 rushing yards even with CJ and minimal time of possession. LSU has the same type of team...so do we. I will be in Atlanta and will cheer until I can't talk, but if a gun was to my head I would say very small chance we win, and I really hope we don't put on another national embarrassment like last year or against Alabama. I was also there when we beat #6 Tennessee but that year had a different feel to it since we had just crushed the coots 63-17.

Sad as it is, I don't think that we do. All of a sudden I don't think our D will turn into a barn burner. There is more to be fixed on our D than just coaching. We need some better talent that gets it.

Becsuse we want stop the run or the short psssing game. On the other side of the ball the lsu defense is even stronger than usc. Can you imagine how that will go. Also lsu will come to play and are healthy. Just thinking and hoping against a team like lsu isnt enough. It could be ugly 41 to 17.

Will LSU's players be motivated to play despite dropping into the bowl formerly known as Peach? If the majority of them will still be grumbling like most of the fans are about not playing in a BCS game or on New Yr's Day @ kickoff, yes, Clemson could overcome to the talent deficit & win by 7 or fewer pts.

we could and did move the ball against SC but Chad stopped calling the right plays that were working, ie. running the ball right at them. When you're getting 5 yards a pop you don't stop running it until they make you.

This year LSU has looked down right pathetic at times. They almost lost to Auburn, Towsen, Ole Miss and Ark. These are not good teams and LSU was in a war with each and every one of them. Their "dominate" D has only looked good against Bama and SC. And they lost one of those games and were close to losing the other.
Also, if you go into a game expecting to lose then don't bother showing up. You've already been beaten.

It is ridiculous how the Clemson posters keep saying we almost lost to Towson...that is simply not true...we played Auburn before their players had given up, it was our QBs first away SEC game and our oline was really struggling...we basically stopped taking any risks and played crazy conservative... We did not play great against Ark or Ole Miss but both those teams had nothing to lose and took crazy risks on 4th downs that worked out for them several times to extend drives...
Besides winning in the SEC is tough every week...

If we don't run the dadgum football, it's going to be a bloodbath.
If we don't do something different in the secondary, Mettenberger is going to become Dan Marino like we tend to make opposing QB's look. You can't give up big plays to a team with a defense as good as LSUs. That's the only thing worse than having them march it down the field on a 8 minute drive.
That said, I think if we can establish the run and get their aggressive defense off balance...and if Blanks can make an immediate impact at the safety postion and our D-line can bring some of the same motor and determination against the running game as they did against USUCK, our chances are very good.

LSU's offense can be pedestrian, but Clemson's defense can't let them control the clock for huge chunks of every quarter and they need to win the battle of field position.
Clemson's offense needs to neutralize the LSU pass rush with screens and draws, limit turnovers and penalities.
Basically, everything Clemson failed to do in the USuC game.
