It is more apparent than ever that our offensive lineman have no clue what they are doing. How can some of those guys be here 3 or 4 years and still not know the basics? Is that poor coaching, poor schemes, poor talent, poor strength & conditioning......what is it? Or is it all of the above. That was really sad to see and hard to watch our guys get dominated like that.

It's poor talent. The reason people want to say it's poor coaching or poor strength condition is they want to convince themselves this is an easy solution to the problem.

Almost every play that Mac Lain broke down, he said "SMU is running the tackle/end twist again". Not once did we adjust to it. And I like the part where he said, "we didn't have iPads on the sidelines when I played, but they do." So they can see this stuff real time. And it's not like they were just getting plowed over by bigger, faster guys. They were getting beat because of poor fundamentals.
Luke has been here two years. There are 10 freshman/redshirt freshman linemen on the roster. Maybe it's time to sit the upper classmen and see what Luke's recruits can do.

But it was probably still running Windows 7.
Maybe they're using the iPads to play Angry Birds or Candy Crush instead of watching film.

But who recruits all this “poor talent” and then fails to prepare and develop them? What’s the point in coaching and all of the 70 something coaches on this staff that are paid so well? There is a lack of physical, and mental toughness, athleticism, skill, and hunger. This team has no identity. All of this falls on coaching.

Most if not all the O-line players are products of Coach Thomas Austin who Coach Swinney brought on board in 2021 and let go end of 2023. Coach Swinney hired Coach Matt Luke in 2024. Coach Luke has the O-line players that Coach Austin tried to develope without much success in 2024 and 2025. Starting in 2026 Coach Luke will be coaching his O-line Recruits.
