Why do male college basketball players wear earrings?

It really annoys me to see the injured college players on the sidelines and in interviews wearing earrings in both ears, namely the injured players for Marquette and Connecticut. I guess I am old school, but I have always thought earrings were for women. Is it just me, or does this bother anyone else?

or the size. The college players had them in both ears and they were quite noticeable. I do not remember Jordan's being that dominant. I find them quite feminine on young men. I guess that comes from being of the older generation.

dreads, but that only means I don't want one. I could care only slightly less about anyone else having one(or more).
Tattoos, dreads, earrings - all things I have no interest in but don't mind if you have.
