Tiger, always a Tiger" no longer applies in this transfer portal age. If you bail on us and wind up getting your undergraduate degree from an institution not named CLEMSON, then you are NOT forever a Tiger with me. Leaving a year early to go to the NFL is a whole nother deal, Dabo always leaves the door open to come back and finish your degree. Some have done so. Butt, bailouts for another school are just that, bailouts. They are whatever their new school makes them, but they are NOT Clemson Tigers.

That is all, carry on.

I would open that door a little wider to account for injuries and graduates but I agree with your point on undergraduate transfers that just want to play elsewhere.

Totally agree with you.

Once a Tiger always a Tiger applies to those athletes hat have lived the life at Clemson. Been a part of the Clemson family and invested their talents to make Clemson better regardless of the sport.

It is time for the adults to get involved with this discussion and fix the issues that have developed with NIL and the transfer portal. Put the stipulation back in that you must sit out a full season if you transfer and that will address a lot of the issues with the portal.

In my book Chase is always a Tiger. He graduated from Clemson and went to Duke as a graduate transfer.

NO WAY!!! Chase is a Clemson Tiger through and through no matter how many colleges he attends.... and who doesn't wish they could get a degree from Duke University or enjoy the mountains of North Carolina at App State

Chase graduated from CLEMSON. He is, and always will be,

Agreed. It is a very general statement, belonging to many but not all Clemson Tiger athletes.

"A Clemson man needs no introduction" - now that is a classic and applies to only the best of the best...

cause it looks like you are saying only alumni can be real fans... unless you join the NFL.

I agree but it's a bit more complicated than that.

Anyone with NFL inspirations who learns that they aren't going to be a starter in their last year or two of college might feel he can better show his skills somewhere else. It's hard to fault a kid who wants to do all he can to succeed in life.

I'd imagine Clemson has plenty of passionate fans who just couldn't get a scholarship at Clemson but could get a full ride somewhere else. If they couldn't afford to walk on and pay their way then maybe we should except them from your rule.

Imo, to say someone had to attend Clemson to be a Clemson man or woman is slanderous. It's a lot of fun to poke at them here on Tnet but most of the Clemson folks I know didn't attend school there. I don't value their opinion less.

saying can be applied maybe 80% objectively, 20% subjectively. Had Chase Brice not already gradyated, the term would apply to him for the reasons you said. Heck, he earned it on that 4th qtr TD drive that included a 4th down conversion via a laser to the sideline.

these decisions impact the kids far more than fans but the fans seem to take it the most personal.

The only exception to someone getting their undergrad else where, would be people like Hunter Johnson (who came back) and Chase Brice.
