Marcus Lattimore

Oct 2, 2013, 12:30 PM

All, I rarely post in here, but wanted to share this story with you. I'm the son and grandson of Clemson grads and grew in Death Valley on Saturdays.

I went to West Point, joined the Army, and now am back at West Point on Staff (for a few years before heading back to the "real" Army).

One of my additional responsibilities here is that I'm an Officer Representative for the Army Women's Soccer team. Yesterday, I went to practice to see how they were coping with the Gov't Shutdown's effect on their season (one conference game already cancelled for tonight). While there, I got to speak with a Sophomore Cadet who, just this past Saturday, tore her ACL/MCL/PCL/LCL in a game against Boston Univ. She was heartbroken and the Dr. told her she'd probably never play again. I told her she should read about a young man named Marcus Lattimore (whom she had never heard - not a football fan), but I told her about him and his story.

Last night, I tweeted to Marcus and asked if he could maybe send her some words of encouragement. Marcus responded to me personally and personally wrote an email to the Cadet last night with the instructions that she contact him throughout her recovery if she had any questions, but that she COULD recover and join her team again.

I know everyone is laughing at Spurrier today, but I wanted to share a story about one heck of a young man who didn't have to help out, but did so anyway.

Bravo, Marcus....I will continue to pull for you.

I've heard nothing but good things about Lattimore. By all accounts he's a stand-up guy. My hat's off to him.
