A running Shaw is the key to this game. We are going to score some points, can we stop him from those 3rd down and 7 runs for first downs. I cant take another Coot win!!!

He wasn't nearly as mobile against UF as I've seen previously. I think he's a little more apprehensive since being dinged up while running aginst Mizz and UT.

i am not sure if we have faced a qb as mobile as shaw, but maryland's isn't far behind, and besides, usuc, imo, hasn't got a ton of wr's to make you pay for gambling- a bit-don't get crazy though. another category where we are a vastly better team than we were against them last year.

I think its pretty apparent that he isn't 100%. Hoping to see a lot of dylan against coastal and hopefully shaw is healed up before we play you guys.
I think the key is who starts the best. Clemson has played tight the last couple of years. If you guys get it going early and get confidence while quieting the crowd it could go bad for us. If we get out of the gates quicker the pressure tightens on clemson and our crowd becomes a huge factor. I think it will be pretty close but if one team dominates the 1st quarter it could go bad either way.

don't think the crowd has much effect on a 5th yr. sr. qb.

boyd's not going to be too much bothered, especially considering he has faced better defenses (from y'all, even) for three years.

it is harder to signal in plays in a hurry up offense with a loud crowd present. Might cause some false starts and such.

The reason we lost the game last year
Nov 19, 2013, 12:16 AM
[ in reply to Shaw ] |

Was because we couldn't get them off the freaking field. Tajh and the boys scored 17 points in about 15 minutes of possession time; that's not bad. A 30-30 split of possession, and we'd have easily won that game, imo. Stopping Shaw is key, and Mike Davis too. With two playmakers like that on the ground, they're geared to make some long drives. Hopefully Venables doesn't call much of his pansy soft-as-crap coverages and let them kill us with screens and short passes again. Let our corners set up on the line of scrimmage!

Whatever process we used to prepare for LSU and UGA needs to applied for this one. Call it "SEC" mode or whatever. Just do it.

Amen. No more patty cake practicing. Full tilt all the way. Shaw does look a little slower, but our D line rushing recklessly and not staying in their "lanes" does concern me. Bruce Ellington always seems to be a thorn in our side as well. I think if we bottle up Shaw, Davis and Ellington, we win, unless our O line struggles again, and then, who knows. All I know is, after 4 in a row, I'm going to be a nervous wreck that whole game. (Unless we blow them out!)

SC's bread and butter is Davis and their OL run blocking for him. That's what sets everythign up. Unlike us they don't have the weapons to abandon the run game and let Shaw air it our. Their WRs are decent but none are world beaters imo.
If Jarett, Williams, Watson, Reader can control the interior of the line and take away the run then I really like our chances of causing Sahw all kinds of problems. Also you can bet that Venables will have a spy on Shaw. I personally might move Kearse to NB for this game and tell him that if Sahw ever runs that he lays the wood and breaks him in half

Yeah Beastly was a factor in many of our games which frees up the Inner guys of the DL. Our backers should play well enough for us to win... IMHO it starts on D to win the game

Shaw will get behind and have a season ending injury and have to leave the game. He will then magically throw passes the next day. Drama queen whuss.

Is still pretty good , regardless of slippage this season. I think our defense is the key . Must limit 3rd down conversions and take away the run game as Florida did. If we do that and protect Tajh, Iexpect to win by 10

I hate to bust some bubbles but the Florida defense was stout, probably better than Alabama's. No way Clemson's comes close to duplicating that game plan.

Meh. I wouldn't say they're the better than Alabama as they gave up 34 points to Vanderbilt. I can't see that happening in Tuscaloosa.

Vandy had 184 yards of total offense in that game... UF turned it over 5 times, 4 on their own end of the field.

UGA was the walking dead when they played UF, so no, they don't count.
We'll see how pedestrian that defense is when they play FSU. Mark it down. Guaranteed.
