For David Hood, Mickey Plyler, or someone associated

Oct 22, 2012, 5:50 PM

with T-Net who has some connections/contacts with our football program/athletic dept: Has anyone within our Athletic Dept or Administration said anything to the powers that be, ACC or whomever, about the ridiculous, and I do mean RIDICULOUS, discrepancy between the day/night game start times for our games at home vs. on the road? I mean, it's gotten way past the "Wow, it seems strange" to just downright absurd. Look, everyone who knows college football knows night crowds tend to be more loud, hostile, etc. Given that, what I'd like to know is anyone within our athletic dept saying to the league office, "Wait a minute, this has just gotten beyond ridiculous and it's not right."

I hope one of you guys can answer my question. Thanks.

The Clemson administration has stated before that they

prefer day games because of travel for the fans. I think it was the Charleston Clemson Club that said something.

There's something in these hills.

noon games because of so many no shows in recruiting. They just can't make it too often.

But TDP stated in the past that night games are problematic for many who travel to games due to lack of hotel rooms, location of Clemson, and lack of traffic control when everyone leaves at once.

We don't have ultimate control as TV sets times. However, we certainly encourage the early slots. It's not just "random chance" we play most of our road games at night and home games at noon/3:30.

Can we get someone to get an updated report on this?

I know TDP stated this when he was a few years on the job, but now that he is further into his tenure, is this still the same goal? We had a good many night games up until around 2008/2009 when we fell down a bit, and then the ACC tanked, while the SEC got an amazing contract. They get most any game at night...ACC as a conference generally gets one on ESPN2 or ESPNU unless it is a super marquis game and maybe get 2 a week.

I disagree. I think that's ESPN prime time talking. It's kinda a chicken and egg situation. Night games are more charged cause that's where ESPN and other networks put exciting big match ups for television. But the loudest game I've ever been to in Death Valley was Miami '05, a day game.

Personally, I'm kinda tired of all the really awesome matchups on TV all being at the same time at night. I would like to see Clemson in a few more night games, but my favorite time is 3:30.

far one of the loudest best games ever. that was the night they played "We will rock you" for the first time and the whole stadium sang it even after they turned off the sound.

remember the Miami game a few years earlier than that?

It set some records for being the loudest college game. It was during the day.

Anytime after 3:00 is good.
