coffin if we can’t get out of this crap conference on an individual level or with FSU and/or others. The $$$ disparity will be way too much to overcome. We already see it now with the clown show that is now the ACC in basketball, compared to the SEC and Big, this will only grow exponentially over time.

decades. The SEC and B1G have, for decades, taken in a ton more money than the ACC. We have every facility and gimmick we can buokd to attract players.. short of a roller coaster. And we can also afford NIL. We spent $15 in 2024 and OSU spent $20. Money isn’t an issue.

Well that's actually not true. Before Miami and Virginia Tech don't join the conference, the ACC had the highest payout of any conference in the country.

Some of the football schools need to be relegated. More schools has actually had the opposite affect as far as making the conference stronger.

We have Stanford out west that comes out with a worse band than some high schools around here, along with a dancing tree. Left coast is a joke!

All it really means is that they extended the ACC media rights for another 12yrs, which everyone expected them too.

THe rest is all either speculation or hasn't been agreed to yet so it means nothing. Unless that is you want to begin to mentally prepare that we are going to drop our lawsuits and opt to stay in the ACC.

ESPN wrote that article like it was in the bag. Sounded like Clemson and FSU was at the table with the ACC and ESPN. Maybe the issue is the early exit that would be timed just right for Clemson, FSU, and UNC. ACC could put an escalation of the brand fund at that time to make it less attractive to leave.

The ACC gets paid less because their TV ratings aren't as good. I mean it kind of makes no sense to think that the network is going to pay the ACC the same as the other leagues when they don't get the ratings at the other leagues get.

This is great if it comes with additional revenue and the early exit timed with a new Fox deal for the Big Ten. Just have to keep making the playoff. And the Irish every year would be awesome. Guaranteed prime time games are important. No games on the CW or ACCN. That could hurt the “brand fund.” Overall sounds like good news.

This comes out the same week that the ACC scheduled one of their top brands to play on Friday night. ACC will always try to bring Clemson down and hurt the Clemson brand. Clemson wants to grow its brand,ACC want to bring it back towards the conference. Conflicting objectives.

.... it is part of the out of court negotiations.

As an attorney once told me, "In a civil law suit nobody is happy with the settlement. You negotiate and agree to something less than you think your deserve."

There will be a discussion tonight at 7:00. I'll post a link below. Some of y'all may have heard the name Doug Rohan. He's an attorney in Atlanta. He is an unabashed FSU fan. Doesn't try to hide it. He also freely admits he does not practice contract law. Since FSU announced they were "exploring options to leave the ACC" and especially since they files suit, he has given updates on a couple of different sites. He tries to explain the legal process and does not sound like a politician screaming "We're right and they're wrong." I want to hear his take on all this.

The cover page announcing the webcast was made before ESPN announced the settlement with ACC.

Here is the link if you are interested. If not, feel free to ignore.

but off-hand, does anyone know what annual revenue (income) UNC or Duke bring in basketball?

My bet is football is still far and away the biggest earner depending on the program.

But if we are looking at a pool that gets bigger based on big names' performances, and those big name performers get bigger slices of the overall pie...does UNC or Duke Mens Basketball bring a significant enough amount that this proposal might become more lucrative for Clemson?

Several years ago, the Boston College athletic director did an interview with the Boston globe, and he said that football is responsible for somewhere around 85% of the TV revenue.

Dang and they are a big market D1 Hockey Program too.

So basically any cut via Brand Fund for whatever Duke / UNC Men's basketball could add to the pot, is rather trivial = priority would be in a top football conference more than paired with other D1 sports elite programs.

Conference re-alignment is going to be as common now as earthquakes in South Carolina.

ESPN is the biggest hypocrites in all of sports. They are the main reason for the great disparities between the conferences. They are the ones pushing the SEC and B1G into becoming NFL-lite. College football has been a great venue, and ESPN seeks to kill it.

These people who want to pretend that money doesn't matter are clueless. MAYBE, money wasn't as big as deal in 2008, but in today's college football it is THE most important thing. The transfer portal and NIL have changed the game and without the money even a well run program will not succeed. A perfect example is our recruiting class this year. We had some really good recruits that bailed for a bigger paycheck. Do you really believe that we will be able to snag a Watson or Lawrence in the future? Unfortunately, players like that are going to make NFL money as freshman in high-school.
