There seems to be a lot of confusion about college vs NFL viewership.

The NFL is significantly more popular than college football.
For example, our game against Texas in the playoffs on Saturday, December 21 drew 8.6 million viewers. That same day, the Ravens and Steelers played a regular season game, and it drew 15.4 million viewers.
That same day, SMU played Penn State in the playoffs. It drew 6.4 million viewers. The Texans vs. Chiefs regular season matchup that day drew 15.5 million viewers.
When college games don't compete directly with NFL games on a given day, they do have higher ratings. Indiana vs. Notre Dame playoff game had 13.4 million viewers, while the Tennessee vs. Ohio State game drew 14.3 million viewers.
For the 2024 season, NFL games have an average viewership of 10.6 million. That is higher than all but four college football games this season.
Hope this helps.

There were people yesterday asking why the nfl hosts playoff games on Saturdays, but the natty is on a Monday. Some people were definitely confused.

These #’s are skewed .
A lot of restaurants and bars have games on all day Sunday. So if Buffalo Wild Wings has 300 customers that day, maybe only 30 actually looked up at the t.v. and watched the games . My guess is Buffalo Wild Wings is reporting that all 300 actually looked up and watched the game . If my family goes to a bar or restaurant on a Sunday , they know not to watch or look up at the tv if an NFL game is on, so that should be evidence that the numbers you presented are incorrect

Are those bars and restaurants closed on Saturday when the college games are on? Pretty sure it’s a wash total viewership wise but when it comes to college there’s more dilution because there’s more teams. At the end of the day college football doesn’t make as much per team because there’s more mouths to feed.

NFL teams are followed on a national level, while college teams garner most of their support/viewership from smaller regional fan bases.
