Conn repeated himself by saying THEY had a chance, and that is a good thing bc, you never want your players thinking, or believing they were where they need to be now, and that all they have to do is show up. Mickey wants them to know that "IF" they put in the work needed in the off season that each player will need for them to be ready as a team mate, working in unison with each other, that THEY could be a championship quality defense. Hopefully Mickey Conn gets them all playing at a championship level.
It use to be said before these pass happy college QBs that will play in the NFL, that defenses won championships. Well, I still believe that talented defenses can still win college championships, and that these college QBs that will play in the NFL, they only help an elite defense to put the other team away a little sooner!!!!

A pedestrian offense last year and we are in the ACC championship game. I think this Defense is deeper and overall more talented than last season. A top 60 passing game and we're in the playoffs. I just have my doubts on if that is obtainable with DJ.

of working with a great DL. How do they compliment that line? Hopefully by playing our top talent regardless of class. In other words, Clemson could easily lose some players when the starting lineups are established. Younger players will not be hanging around Clemson Football because some juniors or seniors have "earned" their jobs by being on the roster over the last few years. Carter, Maguire, Bentley and Trotter are ready to start at LB with Simpson. Mickens, Zanders, Covil and Venables want those snaps at Safety with Mukuba. Davis, Lukus, Wiggins, Greene, and Pride are working for reps at CB and may not hang around to watch sr Sheridan Jones take those snaps.
It will be interesting to see how Goodwin and Conn balance those snaps and personalities to keep young potential stars and backups from leaving the program.
