Just to clarify the narrative about the ACCCG

Clemson did not “back” into anything. There were no tiebreakers involved. Clemson has 1 ACC loss and Miami has 2.

It doesn’t matter when it happened, or what happened wit UCS, Clemson earned a spot by its play in the ACC. Miami did not.

There are too many teams in the conference for it to be settled legitimately.

Unless they do a semifinal or divisions. It's stupid the way they do it now.

Yes - but it is what it is and it’s the same in the Big10 and SEC.

Yes, and it is stupid and takes away from the legitimacy of conferences....

Top two teams of the conference play each other. No devisions of the conference. It makes sure the the teams with the most wins play each other.

Now one of the loudest fans says it's stupid because he (assuming you're pronoun) doesn't like Dabo's coaching. Un_BuH_LEa_VuH_BuLLLL!💩

The problem is it is totally impractical to do that going into a 4 round playoff. Eventually college football needs to realign under divisions with an NFL style playoff system.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes I know. Which is part of the reason I never wanted a 12 team playoff.

It was always just a scheme to cram more Big 10 and SEC teams in a final tournament. They paid lip service to other conferences and undermined their legitimacy... as you will notice with the narratives around the Big 12 and ACC champions over the next few weeks.

4 team playoff was fine for huge conferences. An 8 team playoff better for smaller conferences. This current system is a rigged game for the big boys, designed to rig it further.

at the same time. You're consistant at being a Clemson downer.

And your idea is the ACC should be playing divisions while the other conferences do not? Pathetic. Not as pathetic as coots posing as Tigers. But not far off.

I get it. You want more. But more will never be enough for clowns like you. Never.

Anyone can go through my post history and see I have been hammered by angry people who are more negative than me and angry people who are more positive. There is plenty of proof that you are just being an emo nutjob right now... like the sliver I just shared with you... and your reaction is to throw a fit... like it's immoral to evaluate our current path to the ACCCG as weak or easy.

I have been posting on here since 2004. 75% of it is positive because I believed things were trending positive. I didn't even want to fire Bowden until 2008... so I was late on that. I don't want to fire Dabo now and praised him several times this year. The problem here is your emotions. Just relax.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Totally agree. All the proof you need in the ACC and SEC.

Still wish we could go to 8 to 10 team conferences/divisions. Sort of like the conference structure in the 80s. Small enough so everybody could play everybody. Would cut across current conference alignment, but if you did 12 8-team pods, you would end up with 12 clear playoff teams.

You would have 7 games against your pod and 5 for cross-pod or lower division opponents that don’t affect the postseason. SEC should love it; you could spread their teams across many pods and still have room to maintain rivalries. If they spread themselves thin enough, they could hypothetically get all 12 playoff spots.

But then we would argue about how to decide on the composition of the pods.

Now.

Are we insulated from our program issues by playing in a pathetic excuse of a conference and having a cakewalk to the playoffs even though we make it seem so difficult?…..yes

The fact that Syracuse did that for us didn't get our vehicle of of reverse.

None of the top 3 teams played each other. Backing into the game would have been losing to Miami and still getting in.

And so did we. But they hadn’t yet completed their ACC schedule and we had. That simple. Sure we didn’t beat Miami. They also didn’t beat us. I guess if Miami had won yesterday then they would have “backed in” thanks to Louisville doing their work? Pure nonsense.

You are misusing the term to reinforce your negativity towards the program. We are outright 2nd in the conference. Otherwise anyone who ever played in championship with a losses “backed in” in some fashion. Further, we are both 4-1 against common opponents. If you want to look at just those games we would take 2nd based on ACC tiebreaker. We would also win pts for/against amongst those 4 common opponents.

Did we go undefeated? No - didn't need to.

Did we look like the Kansas City Chiefs in getting there? No - didn't need to.

Did somebody else have to lose in order for us to get in? Yes - so what? That's true of many conference champions.

If Miami had won yesterday, would they have "backed into it" because Louisville beat Clemson? NOBODY would be saying that . . . because it would be absurd. Clemson crybabies are saying it though, because they can't deal with the fact that we didn't look like an elite, eye-candy powerhouse all season, and plow over every opponnent. Get over it, stop poking out your lip, and be happy that your team is going to the championship game!

Doesn’t matter. It’s still nothing to brag about. We aren’t good and we could win the ACC. There will be so much &$@& talking going on if we win it won’t be funny. We have absolutely zero business in the playoffs.
